Poll Would you play Orbiter Racing League Multiplayer If someone was hosting it?

I would, if the hoster allows me to make missions for my simulation group in that server, or explains me how to make a working server and if this is improved for 2010 or 2010P1

Download the file above and read the README.txt file for notes on what and how to setup.The documentation is in the doc folder and you can search here in the forums for "OMP" and how to set up your own server. A guy named KRISS made some really good tutorials on how to set up and configure a server.Really The only thing to do is forward your ports and change the ip number in Orbiter directory/server/SERVER.XML file to your ip address. Outside ip if you are on a lan. This is for Orbiter 2006 p1 ONLY! There is NO multiplayer for 2010 as of yet.

<p>speaking from experience I can say OMP with ORL is great fun. we did a proof of concept session around the gate racing 1 track at wideawake a good while ago now and it was awesome. with a little more dedication from a hoster/organiser there is no reason why ur idea shouldn't work well.</p>

<p>just as a reminder, although I'm sure face has flagged this, you need to set the planet rotation to a rediculously high number to avoid the ship shimmying about, that occurs on the ground with OMP.</p>

Wow cool! Face got on the server he was racing and I was watching him fly from inside HIS cockpit. Pretty cool stuff! And now I would like to thank you for wideawake Intn'l also. Very beautiful airport. Can't wait for the new version. I am still kinda hesitant about ORL group. I dont want people to get wrong impression that it is a "Racing only" server. They can come in and fly around and do whatever also. There is still some stuff I want to try like maybe a voice/chatting server (depends on bandwidth). I really want to work on a nice PHP webpage/splash page. (anybody good at coding php?)I will be using xammp locally.And then if OMP takes off I might find some outside hosting somwhere to keep it alive and give my pc a break.

Suggestion: If you want to reach more users, you may want to post this as a .zip instead of .rar (everyone who uses Orbiter can open .zip files, not everyone can open .rar files). You might also want to consider posting it somewhere where it's easier to get than mediafire.

Of course, if you're intentionally doing it this way to serve as an entrance exam to make sure that people have at least some intelligence before joining, I fully support that...carry on.

Any ideas where to post other than mediafire? Why is mediafire not easy to get to? I use winrar because it opens zip,rar,7zip and alot more. But yeah I can re upload in zip format in keeping with orbiter hanger thats fine.Ill upload wherever you guys want. I wanted to put it on orbiter hanger but some of the addon are unsupported addons. I dont want to step on anybodys toes

I am hosting everything locally and dont have the upload bandwidth for hosting files. Thats why the mediafire. I checked on orbiter hanger as far as the *.zip and *.rar they use both so I dont see a problem there. I Updated the downloads on mediafire and the readme. Took out the older XR1 and XR2 from the downloads and edited the server to omit these from the server as they not completely supported.

Umm hielor have you been to the download link? they are *.zip . Now that big 140+ meg file might have been a *.rar but thats been gone for almost 2 days now . They are going to be moved soon anyways as soon as I get permssion from the authors to try and post it on orbiter hanger

Yep. I can confirm this. It is due to the server.xml entry at the DG at KSC location. It lists a class "DeltaGlider" instead of "Deltaglider" (note the case of 'g').

I will take care of that ASAP. as soon as I get home. I put remote support on the server exactly for this reason, but I just can't seem to get through the proxy here at work. It will be fixed in about 2 1/2 hours from the time of this post. Sorry for any inconvienence :facepalm:

Quack Quack! let me know if I can help in some way. Im doing home time with family. While the kids play with thier new toys ill sneak off to orbiter. I do have to work 24th and 26th possibly.But Im thinking I can monitor the server from work. Couple of lil bugs I missed earlier for the server but Ill get it sorted out tonight.

Just thinking outloud here...Im thinking video! Wouldnt that look cool on a OMP site?

I get the 24th and 27th off (I think) so I'll be around most of the weekend, barring Christmas Eve and the morning of the day itself which will be spent with the family. I know I'm also expected at my grandmother's house on the 26th, but I don't really expect much of a crowd for any of the three days of the 24th, 25th and 26th.
