Hi all,

before I go to the more realistic level in Orbit, I still want to explore a bit more in a sci-fi style. For instance, paying a visit to Uranus and Neptune.

However, with DGIV or the XR series it won't work from what I see. The fuel would suffice maybe, but I just dont have 16 years of O2 :-) besides, 16 years is a tad bit long.

So my question is, are there any "pseudo-realistic" ships I could use? By pseudo-realistic I mean: I know I can download the USS Voyager or something like that and have no problems whatsoever...

But I would rather like a somewhat realistic model that actually would work in a 100 years (or whatever). There are so many ships out there .. I cant possibly test them all...

So any ideas are appreciated :)

TIA

On your way to outer planets, try using gravity of Jupiter to gain some extra velocity and shave off some time. Also, a bit larger starting DeltaV would give you a faster transfer. Might be enough...

I don't know of any ships that you're trying to describe. But if you want to avoid the oxygen problem, use the stock DG.

I don't have one coming in my mind right now, but here's a few things to look for:

- Artificial gravity thru rotation of habitat modules
- Lots of tanks and/or a solar sail
- Nuclear power of some sort
- Docking port with another smaller vessel

Stock Delta Glider is good for almost any trip.
If you run out of fuel, you can use scenario editor (F4 key to display menu where it is) and replenish fuel tanks.

Or you could Google for Celestia and see celestial bodies the easy way.

thanks all... but i do want to play with limited fuel etc.. even if the fuel amount is unrealistically high. unlimited fuel or refueling in the middle of nowehere seems a bit too strange for me.

But I think I found something, will look into this:

Deepstar 2.0
Add-on Description:
Deepstar is an interplanetary spacecraft, designed to explore the outer solar system. This add-on includes Deepstar, two landers, landing sites for Io, Rhea, Titan, Titania and Triton, and a set of 37 scenarios depicting exploration in the late 21st and early 22nd centuries

That looks pretty good.

You could always take any XR Vessel and check the config file.
There are a lot of options regarding fuel effiancy, fuel loadout and the same for O2.
The Deepstar is a great choice, just wanted to give you a perspective on the versatility of the XR Vessels.

Yes, XR ships are a good idea, I once made a 12 year flight to pluto with XR-2 and had enough O2 left for return after arriving (with 4 crewmembers).

Ah, Pluto. There was an add-on right? I think I want to visit this notorious rock .... i cant seem to find the right one though :(

I made the new moons Nix and Hydra to have some more places to fly to, I think I'll upload them.

Aye, thx a lot.. why didnt i find it? remains a mystery.. I did use the search there ....

thanks either way :)
