Godspeed Endeavour !

-9 and counting soon!!!

Can't miss this one!!! sooooo excited :) our hearts are all inside Endeavour's payloadbay (and I'm glad they fit)

Noob Q:
why is the countdown usually stopped several times while it....counts down?

Built in holds to allow people and systems to catch up. they are there to ensure that the clock will only release if certain conditions are met, i.e. weather, shuttle systems, range, etc.

Anyway, a couple of just gorgeous shots from the replays:

A bit of comm & data dropout on the 'spare' TDRSS just befor OMS-2. All ok now and a dual OMS-2 burn has just been completed.

Endeavour is now properly in orbit. Awesome launch.

Wow. I'm just lost for words - I'm simultaneously awed, thrilled, amazed, and also saddened that we're losing this awe-inspiring marvel of human achievement . That's about all I can say right now.

Once again, Endeavour has failed to disappoint us. Beautiful launch.

Ok, dumb question, that like all of the dumb questions has been messing with my head for quite a few launches:

What are all these gases just before ET sep.? I suppose their the RCS firing, but I thought they were only used after MECO, since up until MECO the Shuttle's controled by engine gimballing.

Saw the liftoff from E. Hillsborough through the clouds. Beautiful site even though it was short. 134 is on its way!

The post-separation RCS gases jets show once again how those white/yellow/blue (hard to tell, the color seem to change with lightning !) streams are visible and spectacular, very far from the Orbiter default tiny violet flames !

What a great addition to Orbiter's Shuttle it would be to have these RCS effects.

BTW, the cosmonaut in the Orlan suit on my avatar is in fact an astronaut that is currently aboard STS-134, Michael Fincke. :P

He made two long duration stays on the ISS (Exp. 9 & 18, total of 187 days), so I would say it is a veteran. :hail:
