If anyone has read my halo thread before, this won't be any different. A few moments ago, I was minding my own business playing a game called Starcraft. Then I thought "Hey, Couldn't Someone make the ships and buildings in orbiter?" (some buildings can fly) That's how the post started. Now if someone is gonna make it, in the readme, at least credit Blizzard for the concepts.

Some Terran Command Centers or Starports would be cool. Even a generic hotel-sized lunar lander would be neat.

I wouldn't really worry too much about people not knowing where credit is due if the addon is called 'Starcraft flying buildings' :P. But give credit where its due.

Its not a difficult addon to do either, the buildings are mostly rounded geometric shapes. Spacecraft3 has everything you'd need... except for the ability to build more SCVs. SPAWN MORE OVERLORDS!

Ya, Just gotta make the mesh very well-detailed. Also, Maybe if a command Center was in orbit, Someone could convert the Ummu to look like a marine, or an SCV. I dunno if the Zerg would be possible though, but I have high hopes on the terran and protoss. You Must construct additional Pylons!

A quick suggestion for if someone is making the addon

Why not that for the buildings, The little round pads like seen in the game as landing gear for when the buildings fly. Also, I know if the Rag tag fleet isn't reading this, SOMEONE GET THEM TO READ IT!!! :weird:

Well, if somebody makes the meshes, the rest should be pretty straight forward.

Overmind, I suggest you make an attempt or two at making the meshes yourself. That way you can plug it in with SC3 and see if the concept holds up. Starcraft buildings should be relatively easy to texture too.

I think the best rationale is these craft can be great at representing makeshift bases and the ultimate in landing craft.

Try it out and see how far you can get.

One: I can't mesh.
Two: I can't texture.
Three: HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO MAKE AN ORBITER ADDON?!!!

I think have to tell you the same, I also tell to my daughter.

"I can't do this" is wrong, it is called "I can't yet do this".

What keeps you from learning the skills for that?

1. Play around in Anim8tor. Its a 5 meg program that can do almost everything any other modeling program can. If you can play Starcraft, you can use Anim8tor.

2. Textures aren't required.

3. With Spacecraft3.

Got Anim8or, I'll learn how to use Vinka's spacecraft soon enough, and I'll try learning Anim8or.

I'd love to, but I would first need to construct additional pylons.

If you're having trouble learning Anim8tor, ar81 wrote some pretty good tutorials up on Orbithangar. There's also an addon for Anim8tor at Orbithangar to convert your mesh into the proper .msh format.

See http://www.orbitersim.com/forum/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=4531

It has a beginner tutorial on how to create a basic surface base.
It also has a list of the most commonly used tools and tutorials to make addons.
This page is old and might be outdated as M6 forums are not active anymore, but you may get a pretty good idea...

The main obstacle I see now is that I have not managed to texture properly for complex addons.

I was digging for a drawing of a command center and found this...
Looks tasty for modelling.

Erm... Certain structures probably shouldn't be used in the surface base wizard. Know why? Some of them Fly!

Starcraft TERRAN FLEET

Hello,
brace yourself folks. Still in 2017 the ships will be posted here in orbiter hangar.
Some ships like BATTLECRUISER and WRAITH terran fighter are in last stage of development. Chek the photos
