SSU Launch Complex 39 development

Nice :) How is the poly count, BTW? Can you maybe also replace the hand rails with alpha maps to save some polys?

I'll see about once I'm done with the decks and cryo lines.

Here's some recent screenshots of the so called Midlevel Access Platform Unit on the FSS. All mesh work by xmariox.

Here's a shot of the lower levels of the RSS which encloses the orbiter vertical tail and OMS pods.

Here is the lower levels attached to the RSS. The Orbiter Access Arm can be seen extended.

Also included is the newest MAPU work by xmariox. It's coming along very nicely and the work quality is very good.

Awesome detail.

Awesome detail.
Thanks. I hope to have the RSS is done pretty soon so I can focus on the FSS and get that one completed.

Then I can focus on the two remaining elements of LC-39, the MLP and the hardstand.

Then I could resume work on SLC-6 at Vandenberg AFB.

OK, I have now added the catwalks on the RSS lower +Y/starboard OWP. Two screenshots attached, one shows the view from the upper catwalk looking towards the FSS.

Thanks for the comments! Here's a shot of the lower +Y/starboard OWP in the extended position against the orbiter. There's another set of OWPs extending from the FSS that covers the -Y/port side of the orbiter that almost slides toghether with the +Y/starboard OWP.

Today I added all the struts that is extending from the main RSS structure to the +Y/starboard OWP. I also moved the OWP a bit more outboard as it was causing interference with the upper WLE OWPs.

No new screenshots today, but a development update and a question for the programmers.

Development update:

Today I added the access stairs on the side of the RSS, no real unexpected problems there. Work went smoothly and they're now complete, less some final details.

Now the question:

How complete do you want the RSS and FSS before you start working on the modules? Really, all the animateable details have been added(FSS OWPs, OAA, GVA, LH2 VA, RSS OWPs, main RSS structure).

I think when the main animation objects are ready, nothing keeps us from making a initial module. Even if some animations would be lacking, it would be no problem. The main dev part will be the communication between MLP and FSS/RSS module.

OK. I'll focus then on getting the RSS done and check in the meshes and textures.

OK. Next building we would then need in the chain of command would be the LCC... but well, that becomes really detailed.

We will sure soon need a SSU skeleton scenario, which can be used for creating scenarios with all infrastructure at the right places.

Here's two screenshots of the FSS and RSS showing some of the latest work.

Looks nice, but could you put a different color backround on the pic, so we can see it better ?

How this. Background is now black so it should stand out better.

Here's an early screenshot of the forward RSS drive truck. Still lots of work left on it.
