Would a grenade really knock you back from its blast if you're 20 feet away?

From my experience, the blast when you are hiding behind a low concrete wall, after throwing one about 12 meters away, gives you still some good hammering. but I doubt it would really knock you back if you are unprotected. The shrapnel does the show. The blast is just the kind of bang you always dreamed of on New Year.

Am I stupid or is that not how grenades work? Would a grenade really knock you back from its blast if you're 20 feet away? I always thought you'd just be absolutely blasted with shrapnel but besides that not much?

With a game that exhibits the classic Red Barrel syndrome, and time lord-esque time slowing when you hold your breath, I wouldn't make any assumptions as to the exactness of it's grenade explosion-y physics.

I just found out that Glenn Larson, creator of Battlestar Galactica, died the other day. :(

Actually, the creator of almost all cool TV Shows of the 1980s.

Last USMNT game of the year today. US vs Ireland.

Also Stephen J. Cannell, who apparently died 4 years ago. He produced so many TV shows in those days that people actually remember his name and his logo; aside from sci fi guys like Larson and Roddenberry (and Joss Whedon, I suppose) he's the only non-sci-fi TV producer whose name I recognize.

Are there any phone geeks here? I have a problem with my phone, and I can't quite tell whether it's a hardware or a software problem.

It's an Xperia Play, so it's a slide open phone, which is in this case very relevant. So here's the problem (reproduces 100%):

Problem:
When the phone is slid shut, the display won't turn on when pressing the responsible hardware button.

I know that the touchscreen unlocks, because I can unlock the phone despite the display being dark (muscle memory FTW!).

I know that the display works flawlessly, as it switches on when I slide the phone open. I can then slide the phone shut again and the display keeps working without a hitch.

I know that the hardware button works at least when the phone is slid open, since I can turn the display on and off with it if the phone is slid open. Also, as mentioned, the touchscreen goes active on pressing the hardware button, so the button itself can't be the problem in either case.

If I push the hardware button when the phone is shut (display doesn't turn on, but should) and then slide the phone open, the display still doesn't turn on. This is probably the weirdest thing, as the phone obviously thinks that the display is already running and therefore doesn't trigger the command from the slide-switch, indicating that the command to switch on the display has indeed been received, but not properly executed.

I don't know what is handled by what exactly in a phone. The circumstances are clear: The command from the hardware button isn't properly processed if the phone is slid shut. The last point in the list seems to indicate that the command gets processed, but for some reason the display won't come on.

So yeah, I can still use the phone. The only question really is, does this look like a software or a hardware problem to you??

Sounds like hardware to me. I had an issue not unlike this with my Droid X2 years ago. I'd press the unlock/power button to turn on the screen, but it wouldn't come on. I could slide my finger across the bottom and hear the device unlock, but the display wouldn't come on. It was very intermittent and couldn't be reproduced consistently, so naturally the guys at the Verizon store couldn't help me and Motorola wouldn't accept the return/warranty case since it couldn't be reproduced.

I had a repair tech tell me not long ago that it was likely the screen itself that was defective. I even later rooted the phone and installed Cyanogen Mod 7. The problem was less prevalent, but still existed, which to me suggests it was in fact hardware.

In contrast, this problem is definitely hardware-related:

But how did they manage to overcome the transverse Jensen effect when compressing the premodular viscositizing angle fluid via the outboard inverted dorsal canuder valve?

We both know how...

Just ordered an Atlanta MLS shirt and scarf. The team hasn't even been named yet, but tons of support is pouring in already!
