Where can I get a Direct3D T&L HAL? I have a DELL Optiplex GX270, and all it's got is RGB Emulation.

Does Orbiter still have a checkbox saying "Enumerate Devices" or something like that?

Do you have any graphics card installed? If unsure, please run GPU-Z. In any case its output will be helpful.
It would also be highly interesting to know which operating system you run and what version of DirectX you have installed. You can find out both by running dxdiag.
And of course the contents of the orbiter.log file truely belong in a thread like this.

I recall one day, I had a similar issue, I had to uncheck the box, run Orbiter, then recheck the enumerate box back again. It was a time I was messing around with multiple monitors.

Otherwise, check the graphics card, the drivers, and that directX and opengl and direct draw are all correctly installed and running. If there are any faulty installs it can cause something else to go wrong (generally speaking)

DirectX is available from Microsoft for free.

Are other 3D games working?
What is your graphics hardware?

If you have no graphics card, then the system will fall-back on the built-in Intel Extreme Graphics 2. This is the same style of chip I have in my old laptop from 2003. Cool!

I'm giving GPU-Z a try; here's hoping it works.

OS: Windows 7
DirectX version: 7.0

ok - how it's possible to have dx7 with win7? WinXP comes with dx 8.1 by default. AFAIK Win7 comes with dx 9.0c. I suspect faulty GPU driver installation.

Because most of the video cards nowadays dont support DX7
This is untrue statement.

Besides, Dell OptiPlex GX270 has AGP bus, so you rather don't see there "nowadays" graphics cards.

@Trekker1986:

Are you using the integrated graphics card (Intel 865G, IIRC), or is there an additional low-profile AGP card installed?

The displayed DirectX 7.0 could be just displayed version supported by graphics card, and not the version of DirectX installed in system. Is the displayed DirectX 7.0, a version supported by hardware layer?
