Project Multistage2015 - Development Thread

Hi

I tested Multistage2015 with Orbiter2024:
Everything works fine, except the boosters:
  • if you let the combustion run until the end, the boosters stop their combustion but do not automatically jettison from the first stage on which they are attached
  • if you want to eject them manualy (J key) it causes a CTD.

Otherwise, everything else works (the stages, the sounds, the "guidance" files etc)

A planned update? ;)
That would be great... :hailprobe::hailprobe::hailprobe:

I've written to @fred18, asking for updates. And I offered myself to recompile Multistage for OpenOrbiter 2024.

It turns out that he replied telling me that he doesn't have much free time (that's life), but that he would allow me to update his add-ons to OpenOrbiter 2024.

It turns out that I'm not a professional programmer either, I just have courage and I love Orbiter. So:

I'm going to try to update Multistage2015 to OpenOrbiter 2024. And I'm going to try to update his other add-ons as well. In fact I've already been working with the General Vehicle source code (which works like a charm on Linux). So I'm going to start little by little. And I'm learning along the way, Fred's add-ons are very good.

EDIT: I think I'll open a thread for each update to ask for feedback and help.

Hi Mathias

Yes, Fred was very kind with me, He sent me a msg that you were going to update Multistage
Thank you.

As I am in the process of improving my Ariane 6 rocket, I tested multistage with Orbiter 2024.

Here is what I found :
everything works well, except:

1) The boosters:
  • at the end of the combustion, they do not eject automatically (but the rocket continues to work fine and the guidance file too)
  • if we try to eject them manually (with the J key) we get a CTD.

2) the stages and payloads :
- I did not notice any issue. (Operation and ejection ok)

3) about stage.dll
- the stages and the fairing, once jetissoned, do not disappear when falling back to the ground

I hope this can help you.

Thank you again for doing this update. :hailprobe:

I am volunteering to test this module, but just for information, I will not be there from February 14th to March 5th.

About others Fred18's modules, VesselBuilder seems to work fine with Orbiter 2024.

Cheers
