Ok I admit it isn't realistic, but hell it looks good.

The textures are crisp and clear. They even feel 3D. The remote areas look better than the cities though. The lack of 3d 'suburbs' would be the primary cause of this.

Having come from playing Ace Combat 2 and 3 on PSX, everything looks great. Having many missle types and even including free fall bombs and cluster bombs is a nice touch.

The representation of the planes is great, the interior models of the cockpit is detailed and the view from the outside is stunning.

I do have a few problems with it. The sense of speed is rubbish, for all intensive purposes 1000km/h = 2000km/h.

The control system is far from realistic, but it works and it does the job. The weapon loadouts are visible on your hardpoints, but amount of weapons is not possible.

It is a good game and well worth the trouble of getting the demo.

See you in the air!

Well, I tried the demo. I'm very glad that games like this have a demo, because I would have been very disappointed had I actually purchased it.

You're right about the textures. The game *looks* great. However, I wouldn't buy a game just for eye candy.

The controls completely suck. Even if you use a joystick, pitch/roll/yaw are just on/off values, not more input = more output like in a real plane. There's no way to actually control the throttle, as far as I can tell. The planes fly like they're being held by a six-year-old kid zooming them around his bedroom.

The camera angles were designed by a blind person. Turning "assistance" off is completely pointless, because it takes your camera angle and puts it outside the plane and pointing in random directions. I don't know, the controls might be better with assistance off, but it would be so much easier if it would let me just stay in the cockpit.

Hugely disappointing game, really. I miss the good old days of combat flight sims, like A-10 Cuba, where realism was a primary goal. This is what console games are doing to people, I guess.

I don't like HAWX, it's too unrealistic, the F-2 is a repainted F-16 (there is a difference), the missiles don't turn at all (so much for GUIDED MISSILES!!!), and since when can an F-117 do SUKHOI and F-22 STUNTS?
Also, the pilots in HAWX sound drunk...

I played this game and liked the eye-candy. But, alas, good graphics are not enough anymore. I'll stick with orulex and orbiter and heavily laden arrow!
