News Discovery to fly over Washington DC

R I P :tiphat:

Ironic that the call code for the SCA is 'PLUTO95', Pluto also being taken down from it's former glory..

I had a great view today from the White House

The world stops. Everyone everywhere is looking up. (notice the roof of the building in the background)

Discovery and her chase appear over the tree line!

The sight of something so impossibly big soaring over your head is almost surreal.

Thanks for the pictures guys. Quite an emotional day for OV-103. Here's a picture one of my relatives took as Discovery flew over Cocoa Beach.

In the last pic, 20+ years of reentries definetly shows up.

Wow, the 747 flew pretty low. Thirty-nine trips to orbit seems like too many yet too few.

Checklist:

1. Blatantly blow off work: check
2. Jump on DC Metro to L'Enfant Station: check
3. Whip out camera loaded with B/W 35mm film just in time: check
4. Drop film off for developing while making up time at work all afternoon (because I'm not a government employee who can clock time while standing on a roof shuttle-watching): check
5. Upload photos to Orbiter Forum and show off: CHECK!

Not bad for being caught off guard. Can't wait to get these negs in the darkroom and do some nicer versions. 30 years of missing launches I finally get to see one of these things airborne.
