Talking to my English colleagues thought me, that the English probably will go for a draw. But that means, that Australia will keep the Ashes because they won it last year?

Btw. I had my first "cricket rules" and "how to watch and enjoy cricket" lesson last week. The concept of being a spectator at a cricket game and shout and drink for 4 to 5 days sounds very interesting to me

There is little drinking involved in cricket, it seems to have been imported by the Australians. Probably worried they are going to loose....

It is no surprise really. Given the choice of drinking hot tea or cold beer for 5 days under the hot Australian sun, what would you do?

Anyway, it looks like WWOS Crystal Ball has had a hernia - it is predicting 88% of an English win :huh:. It looks like the weather is going to clear up so we still have a chance of a win here.

Meanwhile, over in Germany, Webber is continuing to prove Australia's sporting awesomeness...

Ponting has been spitting his dummy again (no surprises there). For what its worth, I don't think he can afford to complain much, they got 95 overs in on day 5.

It seems that Flintoff will not play at Lords and be replaced by Harmison - that should not disadvantage England too much, if at all. Notwithstanding, it looks like England have been rain dancing again. Rain predicted for days 2,3 and 5 at Lords. I know that forecast is still a few days out, and English weather changes faster than David Beckham's hairstyles, but its still looking grim for getting five full days of play.

Second half of the day: 177/6 - well done Hilfenhaus & Siddle
Overall: 364/6 - slightly in England's favour, so Australia will need to get a good first session in. This match is looking quite interesting already.

To give his bowlers a break. It is a pretty common strategy in modern test cricket, especially when you have as much time to win as he does. Alastair Cook doesn't seem to realise there is no rush - 30 off 31 balls!
