Couldn't have said it better myself.

I'm also pissed at missing it, but that's life I guess. (I probably would have jinxed it anyway.) Congrats to SpaceX for finally sticking it to the Man. Now build me one I can ride in. :P

A jinx? That's possible. It must have been one of us. I figure it's always me when I'm watching the Philadelphia Eagles.

Did they do a launch recycle again this time?

Nope, clock went straight to engine ignition, and liftoff! No aborts, or unexpected holds or anything at least from the start of the webcast about 25 minutes before launch.

I found a link to video of the launch:

http://mfile.akamai.com/22165/wmv/spacex.download.akamai.com/22165/F1-002-Launch-WebcastLow.asx

This doesn't go all the way through SECO, though.

It looked like there might have been some contact at sep. Also, quite a bit of oscillation right at the end of the video ... Did the webcast go longer than this? Through SECO?

Fair to say you are a little bit excited? Don't worry, I missed the live launch too when work-work intruded at T-30s :(.

You posted this while I was posting -- so am watching your link now ...

The oscillation would have been attitude realignment. The webcast does briefly drop out about 60 sec before SECO

The video link I posted was for the third launch -- thus the contact at sep and the BAD oscillation -- doh!

Just looked at the REAL video -- AWESOME!

We're on our way!

Video on youtube now:

Same as the one from nasawatch, except that the nasawatch one uses brightcove which I can't record the stream from for some reason.

HOORAY FOR SUCCESS!!!! :speakcool:

Its amazing how the exhaust doesn't seem to harm the nearby trees. I guess the rocket gets out of the way so quickly.

Beautiful to see that video! Congrats to all the SpaceX employees who can sleep well tonight. What a great feeling that must be! Too bad we didn't see the payload after sep.

err the payload was a metal cylinder ;)

AWESOME!!!!! Congrats to the SpaceX team on a job well done!!!!

It's a great thing for Space X! I'm glad they finally got the thing to work. I thought the 1st stage separation was beautiful. That should be something that shows up all over the place, like the staging from the Apollo flights!

Did anyone else start to get concerned about the exhaust cone glowing red...it looked like it was going to disintegrate at one point! The commentator did say that was normal, though. What kind of cooling is on that exhaust cone?
