Ran the chute testing scenario in your PhoenixBeta0.2 package and managed to deploy the parachutes for your capsule. Seems to work quite nicely!

I've also been testing my capsule today, deploying a parafoil (but still with the parachute aerodynamics and code as in the above post) and I seem to have stability issues as well with time acceleration. I think I may have attempted to solve this problem before but then just left it as it is.
 
I've used all three but prefer Blender for it's ease of customization.

What specifically are you having difficulty with? I could whip up a pretty solid "orbiter meshes for blender noobs" tutorial if I had a better idea of where the hang ups are.

I would just say a tutorial explaining how to make a mesh in blender. I cant even find the mesh import/export plugin in the maze of an interface it has.

Yeah, I guess it'll have to just wait for now. I would suppose the LES is next up on my todo list. A few more tweaks & I should be able to fly a test mission. How does a direct ascent to the ISS sound?

Edit: Yes markp, the chutes work if you fire them right after starting, but watch what happens if you let the capsule fall for a few seconds. That could really cause some stability problems for this add-on. Even when I set the drag parameter to be static I get blown off into space.

Edit: Yes, again. :facepalm:, found what was messing things up & removed it. Setbankmomentscale & Setpitchmomentscale were causing the problems, probably what I get for using old flightmodel parameters. A note for any up n coming developers out there - Following a hunch you have while programming might not sound scientific, but its often right.
