Jupiter makes sounds?

I found this video that shows some really strange sounds coming from Jupiter which I've never seen or heard of before. The video says that sound does exist in space as electromagnetic vibrations. I can believe this, however I am not studied on this at all, so maybe someone else could confirm or deny this. Listen to these sounds though...my god thats strange! :)

Rare Walt Disney Space series

Rare Walt Disney Space series from 1955, speculating about going into Space. Remember, more than 50 years ago, Sputnik hadn't even gone up yet!

What this is, Tex, is radio waves coming from the magnetic field of Jupiter. Charged particles from the sun interact witht he field and cause it to vibrate at frequencies which can be picked by instruments on nearby spacecraft. These random signals can be heard if you send through a speaker after some procesing. Do a search for "sounds of Saturn". Cassini recorded some signals that sound like effects from the movie Forbidden Planet, and if you crank them up in the dark they spook you out bigtime.

BTW, any planet with a magnetic field does this, including Earth. Get a shortwave radio and check it out.

I love this show..anyone else watch it?

Warning to red-blooded males. You may find yourself falling for super-brain, rock-climbing blonde physicist Lisa Randall, and start humming "Fly Me to the 11th Dimension" every time she comes on. Female viewers may feel the same way about Prof Kaku, I don't know.

I love YouTube. Unlike TV, where you are forced to dumb down at all times, YouTube allows you to choose between smart and dumb at will - and yes, I like the dumb stuff too, sometimes.

Here's dumb but funny: hand-farting maestro The Manualist, aka Gerry Phillips, plays a selection of musical favourites (classical to rock to soul).
