Look behind you.
hello, i have been learning to fly the xr5 vanguard for the past few days and i am getting fairly good at it but i haven't been able to find any autopilots like launch autopilot so i am wondering if there is any. thanks

Hi jinglesassy, there aren't any autopilots apart from the default ones and the hover, attitude and airspeed ones. The DGIV is the only DG with so many autopilots.

If you want to learn how to put it in orbit, try it manually. There's some great tutorials out there.
They way i learnt it was just watching other spaceships go into orbit automattically, and i just follow that roughly but i check the orbit MFD to check my orbit.
Good luck getting into orbit, the XR5 is very hard to get into a good orbit especially with a full load of fuel and cargo.

Look in the documentation for the XR- series planes (they all have the same manual), there is a walkthrough for a launch. I think it actually serves an XR-2, but there are a few notes for the -5. The hardest part I've found is making a smooth transition from main engine to scram, then slowly backing off the mains until they are shut down. Ride the SCRAM until the pressure and temperatures dictate a shutdown, then light the mains again to orbit. It takes some practice, but the last time I flew a -5 I got to orbit with loads of fuel to spare. She's pretty docile with re-entry too.

From my experience with the XR5, a good way to use the scrams is to get above twenty kilometers on main engines only, then open up the scram doors and set the scram throttle to maximum. Keep an eye on the thrust produced. Once it starts reaching the thousands of kilonewtons point, cut off the main engines and ride the scrams until they overheat.

Be careful with your altitude and speed. I don't have a solid suggestion here.

Do note that I don't have a whole lot of experience with the XR5, so be careful with my advice.
