Since moving to Win7, I'm having a lot of trouble with my TSST dvd burner. Namely, it hangs up the system when it's encountering a problem. That problem can be as small as a slight hinderance on reading the disc. For example, it hangs the complete system when encountering an ever so slight scratch. DVDs that the ultra-cheap dvd player in the living room plays without problems crash my whole system (not even the task manager respnds anymore).
Generally, I have to copy anything from a CD, I can't play it in the directly, and even while copying there's a good chance the thing will hang up on me. I didn't have any trouble at all with the same device under Win2K.
Now, after the last windows update, the problem just got worse: the DVD-writer is even more liable to hang up, and I'm even getting bluescreens at windows startup (flash up for a second, mumble something about the problem being most probably an incompatible device, then the computer reboots). At least a few times, Windows computer usually succeeds to get itself started every 3 or 4 attempts...
Anyone got any advice on what to do?
