What kind of add-on do you think would change Orbiter forever?

well if we ave collision detection we would need to change some other things, for example there would have to be working airlocks int he inflantable bases and so on...
I fail to see why collision dection requires "working airlocks"...

Rather the inverse, collision detection forces the requirement of functional airlocks for things like UCGO's inflatable bases. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to get out of them.

You could always "cheat" and have the airlock door be an activateable region...when you activate it, you "teleport" outside. Lots of games do this.

Hopefully Orbiter never will. Orbiter is comitted to realism, right guys? *deactivates RWarp MFD*

Anyway, right now I think the best things that would "change Orbiter forever" would be simple graphical and physics engine improvements.

Well I mean at the moment you can easyli go through the doors of the Inflantable-Stations, but if there would be collision-detection, it must be possible to open them, if you want to go out.

Or you could simply make the airlock parts non-collidable.

well that wold be an idea, but i would think about a module that uses visual-meshs as collision models, too, so you don*'t have to add collision-models for all the Add-Ons.

Alternately...

I think we need some spaceships that look like male and female body parts. They can "mate" in orbit and produce baby spaceships.

Ahem... Apollo-Soyuz begat Salyut which begat Mir which begat ISS...

In the beginning, Probe. (skips creation story)
And the Probe created Sputnik.

Anyway, I think more atmospheric configuration options would add a ton to atmospheric flight. A bit like in FSX.

Salyut 1 was launched 19 April 1971 - the raw contracts for Apollo-Soyuz had been signed on 24 may 1972 - over one year later.

Apollo-Soyuz had no real effect until Shuttle-Mir resumed cooperative flights again.

Hm, like [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=1148"]Death Star[/ame] and [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=1449"]DoomsDay Planet killer[/ame] ?

Yeah, Urwumpe, this was poorly worded. EPAS was brought to my mind by the other poster's request for ehrrm, male and female body parts... the anrogynous docking unit, y'know...

What would be awesome:

-Multiple Solar systems
-A way to connect add-on solar systems with each other
-Time reverse (as mentioned a few pages before)
-A way to explore your station from the inside
-That scrapped city from the first stage of UCGO

Some might not be able, but they're just suggestions. :)
