Hi there,

I recently downloaded Orbiter 2016 and most of the spacecrafts work correctly.
That is not the case with the Vostok programm, each time I try to start it up, it gives a critical error: no vessel class configuration file found for:
I also downloaded the Soyuz programm, same problem, it won't start up.

Can this problem be solved?

Hi!
So, first of all: are those addons compatible with Orbiter 2016? If they were made for Orbiter 2010 (or earlier) they might not work in Orbiter 2016.
If they are supposed to work in Orbiter 2016, did you installed them correctly? Reading the installation instructions and installing required addons or other files?

When I downloaded Orbiter 2016, it was the full version. Vostok was part of the download. I don't think that went wrong.
I wonder, if the problem is that the software is obsolete, it might be better to delete that kind of aircraft in the first place . Otherwise you get expectations that can't be fulfilled.
By the way, I tested Vostok in the 2010 version, it didn't work either.

I have seen this happen in a couple of places. The error message generally means that there is some other vessel that you need to download and install in order to run this specific scenario. The Vostok itself may be just fine. Can you post the next couple of lines after the critical error - that's where it is trying to tell you which vessel caused the problem.

Where did you download it from? I don't think Orbiter comes with any Vostok addon. You need to download it separately and install it.

That does not sound right. To the best of my knowledge, Vostok was never included in Orbiter 2016 as released by the developer:
http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/index.html

A few Vostok add-ons exist, but those have all been developed by third parties. They should not have been included in the main Orbiter download.

I'm concerned what you mean by "full version" of Orbiter. Do you have a link to where you got it from? I suspect that you have obtained a non-official version of Orbiter with supposed add-ons bundled in or something. If that is the case, you were scammed. Neither the Orbiter developer nor the add-on developers can help you if that is the case.

Edit:

Partial :ninja: by GLS, but we seem to have the same concen.

Indeed. There is no Vostok included in the core Orbiter 2016 download package. Perhaps it's best to start over again using the official download and then add the must-have mods like OrbiterSound one by one.

The next problem that you are going to have is that add-ons made for Orbiter 2010 or Orbiter 2006 are not guaranteed to work in Orbiter 2016. (Actually, I'm pretty sure Vostok will not for same reasons as here: https://www.orbiter-forum.com/showthread.php?p=554450&postcount=43)

I recommend that you at least download a copy of Orbiter 2010 - P1 v. 100830 from here :
https://www.orbithangar.com/orbiter.php

You can have both versions of Orbiter. Orbiter 2010 is still worthwhile to keep around for compatibility with older add-ons.

Oke,

so I understand programms like Vostok and Soyuz won't work in the 2016 version.Perhaps in the future, but that needs working on and time. I don't know exactly where my version did came from anymore, perhaps it is not an original version. I again will download the 2016 version from the official portal.
Also version 2010, and hope older programms will be working on that, since I am interested in the Russian spaceprogramm.

Thanks for all your support,

Rimpeltje, the best option is to have a Orbiter 2010 folder just for Russian stuff.
That way you start adding add-ons that go well with one another (launchers, bases, etc).
And it's easier to manage.

You can have Orbiter 2016 on another folder, a different Orbiter 2010 for Shuttle missions, etc, etc!

Hi,

I followed the last advice, using 2010 for the Russian spacecrafts, and 2016 for the newer( most American ) vessels.
It works pretty good, it indeed is better to manage that way.
Sometimes it is like a puzzle, in order to make one programm work you need several different add-ons from different places.
I have not installed all possibilities, but i'm sure I will succeed in the end.

Thanks for all your advice,

and a Happy New Year!

I recommend the jonesoft generic mod enabler (JSGME). Do a search for it. It will let you install and uninstall add-ons very easily.

With JSGME, you would not need multiple Orbiter 2010 installs and multiple 2016 installs for different specialties. Just one well-managed install of each version.
