Tuesday ...

That must have been the most heavily thanked post in the history of Orbiter-Forum!
For good reasons, too!

:probe:

Thank :probe: it's Tuesday!
:woohoo:
Thanks, Martin! You're awesome. And now I'm going to drown myself in Orbiter for the next week.

Absolutely outstanding martins!!! Words couldn't even begin to describe the awesomness of your (and the rest of the community's) work.

I've been looking forward to this day for quite a while (I'm sure I'm not the only one), so thanks a lot for completely screwing up my original plans for the day (and week?). ;)

Oh, and hi everyone btw, what a perfect tuesday to finally stop lurking and join you guys.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. :hail::probe:

:welcome: to Orbiter-Forum !, and yes, it it a perfect Tuesday to stop lurking !

AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats Martin.

Just a real shame that all add-ons now have to be re-developed for the 2010 version.
It would have been nice if a better looking launch-pad for the shuttle would have been incorporated ( as well as David413's fleet/ Better looking ISS ).

So great work, but for now I'm sticking with the 2006 version.

Thank you very very much for the new Orbiter to all who are involved and especially to the founder Dr. Martin. Tuesday of course.:hail:

I am using Orbiter for years well at least 6 years now. Its always a pleasure
to go and play in space.:)

congrats to all

At the end of a long and more or less crappy day, this happens. If you weren't on the other side of the world I'd give you a hug.

Thank you, very much, and congratulations on what I know was a job well done. :)

Pretty much my sentiments. Thanks again for all your hard work Martin (and beta team of course).

I'll download it later. I'm a little busy right now :P

Level 14 terrain sounds fun.

Just a real shame that all add-ons now have to be re-developed for the 2010 version.

A lot of addons already work with 2010 and the major releases like DG4, XR fleet etc have new versions released for 2010 at the moment.

That is not Martin's work, thus it isn't included with Orbiter 2010.

Have fun in the past, we'll be Orbiting with all the new features of 2010! :P

Thanks to Martin and also to collaborators and fellow addon developers for all the work around this release: it is always nice to have a new Orbiter version officially available for us to 'Go Play in Space'.

Never get tired of saying: this is like the Porto Wine, gets better with age! It is really amazing the evolution since the first Orbiter versions (I was around by then althoug kept myself on 'lurker mode' for the first 3 years or so!): it has been a previlege to use this fantastic program either on serious simulation work about conceptual spacecraft, launchers and mission design brainstorms (or when using historical, current tech and soon to be historical addons... STS is ending...), other times with Sci-Fi stuff and yet another times on Astronomy / Astronautics / Physics / Mathematics related education activities, etc.

It is also kind of interesting to compare the astronautics context and several other contexts (Internet got a big leap, for example... and, of course, we now have this nice forum as our main gathering place ) of nowadays versus when the first Orbiter version was released and then think / extrapollate the future. In any case 'the Dream' continues and this cool software is part of 'the Dream': despite we are just grains of cosmic dust we are all also Universe trying to understand itself and, on my humble opinion, Orbiter takes an interesting role on that discovery journey, heck, we have the Solar System as a virtual playground, for free!

As usual, will first have a good look at the updated documentation to better learn about what changed

The release time was also good here: currently (finally) moving files to a better development computer system baseline and nothing like a new Orbiter version for a 'fresh' start. I just hope that Vinka manages to update the cool generic dlls so that can also move some of the never-ending development work into the new Orbiter version (I mean, there was some incompatibility - perhaps not the best word to describe the issue, please see EDIT below - on betas, still need to double-check if that is the case on Orbiter2010 - has anyone tried multistage2.dll addons? - else, will probably keep working with 2006P1 for my own development stuff while playing with available compatible addons for Orbiter2010)

Thanks again,

I'm thinking of printing out the whole API reference document.

I find that the .chm is much, much easier to surf through than the .pdf was, but I can see that there are times when a hard copy would be useful too.

Any considered good, I will continue with my version 2002. I like the rustic's style.

lil' problem... for some reason, the l14 earth textures will only appear when i fly the "updated KSC" scenario - for all others, it defaults to the stock blurries  why?

Wow. 2 days of meetings and I missed the biggest release in 4 years!

Thanks Martin for all your hard work with this awesome sim!
