Just found these links, both of these probes will help with the eventual return to the moon. NASA seems serious that there not all talk.

NASA is 100% serious about going to the Moon. The problem is one of whether Congress is serious about funding it.

Interesting, both these missions use a low-energy Lunar transfer via the Sun-Earth L1 point - is this now the preferred way of getting robotic probes to the Moon? If so, why didn't Chang'e and Chandrayaan use the same method?
