SR-71 development

Cool. What is the final RPM? Can we have it overheat?

Maximum RPM is around 7900, if I remember correctly, but during normal flight, the RPM should be regulated to about 6200, by controlling how much air enters the jet engine and how much is bypassed directly to the afterburner.

EDIT: Correction: It peaks at 7200 rpm at Mach 1.4, and then drops slowly with increasing air speed until reaching 6800 rpm. I mistook the external bleed schedule line with the military thrust schedule line.

If you got some good videos I can get some engine sounds and other things from it.

Just look on youtube... one SR-71 video had a pretty good recording of the aggressive SR-71 sound during take-off.

I'll do that then. What other sounds should I include?

No good idea yet, but some of the warning tones of the cockpit would be appreciated. A generic landing gear deployment/retract sound would also be good.

I would first of all have to deal with the J58 engine simulation I think, especially getting the inlet unstart simulated would be challenge.

I think I can spool up some of those sounds. Are these sounds specified in the .cpp?

Yes, over orbitersound. But I could also permit defining the sounds in the Habu.cfg, is a bit more work.

clbk. I would like to see the .cpp file later on in the project so I can see how this type of spacecraft is setup. I have only done basic ones. Is that fine?

Would have to be the case, since I plan to use SSU code for some tasks. Even I have to obey the license, you know. :P

I don't think I understood that entirely. Lol.

Well, anyway. I still have to sort out how to control the throttle... from OFF to MAX or just from IDLE to MAX?

I think Idle would be better.

Lol. What is the actual start up sequence? I need a reference so when I make the manual it will have that included.

I think the engine cones(the actual name escapes me), move in and out during flight don't they ?

Thanks for the manual. It is very informative.

Can I see a picture of the HSI progress so far?

Don't have a good mesh of it yet, spent most of the day looking at how to do the engines in C++.

Oh ok. Just wanted to know.
