Does Orbiter have an SR-71 addon for the 2006 version? I have a mesh for it.

There is this [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=1330"]SR-71 A/B with Drone ver3[/ame] but it's not for 2006

Could I go ahead and make one for 2006 then?

Alright. I have to finish my X-2 first though. The textures are being worked on and then I got the animations to do. That is about a days work. Then Donamy sent me his X24 to work on. I can do that as well too.

Here is the mesh.

Cool. I love the SR-71. Good to hear that there comes a new one.

What would make it better is if someone is willing to code it. I'm not ready for this one so I'll let someone else do it. Other than that, it will be a regular SC3.

I would like to code it, if somebody makes also a VC for it. I have some pages of the SR-71 manual on my HD...

It is just that some many people will hate me, if I do a SR-71 in the two weeks "holidays" coming next week.

Cool! I'll see what I can do with the VC and if I do not make it I already have some names of people who can do it.

I think I am going to use this one as a reference.

Yeah, that is good. If you need detailled drawings of the cockpit to do the labels and scales of the cockpit, just PM me your email, i can send you a ZIP with the manual pages, the website from which I got them removed them some years ago.

Thanks. The good thing to is that it is in color and 90 degrees flat. I could use it for the texturing too. :P Or I could make a mesh for everything, but that would lower FPS. What do you think is better?

Separate VC and exterior. but you can use the texture for making a low res cockpit which you can see from outside.

Awesome. Can't wait to fly it.

On a side note, I'm surprised no one has created an SR-71 paint scheme for the XR-2, given how similar they look.

This might be too complicated, but sure enough it can be done. I can go ahead and make the major controls such as the throttle, the inlet spikes, and etc. Would it be possible for you to make it where it is applied to the SR-71 itself and have animated controls? Like SSU? I won't have that much controls like the Shuttle so I guess it would be easier.

No problem, I know where to get some basic framework for VCs. ;)

Awesome. How many stages of inlet spikes are there? I know it climbs to 60000 or 80000 feet and then starts a slow descent slowly incrementing on the inlet spikes. I tried it in FSX, but there is a Mach 2 limit. Anyway, I hope to get the VC done really professional so I am not in a rush. Plus you might also have other things to work on so it straightens everything out. How will the gagues be animated as the roll changes and pitch rate varies? I son't know too much about C++ animations.

There are no stages, the inlet spikes are linear. Depending on which kind of computer you have in the SR-71, you have to manually restart them some times.

Well, I can do a lot of fancy stuff if I get enough time, also, if I may release the code under the GPL, I can use the SSU VC code as starting point. Would also be not too bad for SSU as I can clean and refine some classes in the framework on the way.

It would be nice if you could also separate the ejection seats from the VC (In the low-res cockpit, I could just exclude the seat groups from rendering).

Anybody having a problem if I use UMMU for it? Has no docking port, but I know that people don't mind having UMMU for everything, even for the coffee automat.

I actually was thinking of having ejection seats too. I can't wait to see a UMMU on the seat flying backwards with the seats engines blaring upward.

Did the Blackbird every get scorched up bad enough for markings on the wings?
