Spacecraft personifications

Hm... maybe, something like this:

SCRAM doors, open and closed position.

//didn't draw anything for years, but the idea should be clear ;)

This thread is disturbing on so many levels
We're all half-mad.
How is a Ravenstar like a writing desk?
SRB twins sounds like a great addition. I'm not sure how to make them not look silly, though. I guess just a skirt shaped like the rocket nozzle skirt, a striped shirt and a conical hat would suffice?
The ET is even harder to anthropomorphise. It's just a big orange pointy tube.
From that, I imagine the SRBs will look something like Lily White? I think a simple orange bubble dress and a cone-shaped hat would be enough. No shoes, since she's just a tank. She would always be dieting before launch in order to stay super-lightweight enough, and she would always complain about being cold.

Thanks for the feedback! That made me laugh!
Although, I think I'll be keeping the halter top. I really like the way it looks, also the nose cone ribbon and the gear. I might use this for the XR5 or DGIV though! I imagine the XR5 might be something like Vocaloid Meiko.
New picture coming...

Half-mad? Don't insult me. I'm 100% mad! :jiggy:
 All the best people are.

OK, lines are still messy (auto contrast in Photoshop makes it worse), but I like the face. The elements of design in this one are pretty much final so I might get to ink early.

Can you guess what she's saying?

Hey, I didn't notice the docking collar before. Nice touch.

She seems to have a sort of, I don't know, vacant look. The sort of look you don't want to see on your pilot (or ship in this case) when you're in the middle of a burn... :shifty:

That look was originally supposed to be "Don't call me cute!", but I guess that works too. The Mk II will be more aware due to having a fully functional VC.

I was thinking a bit about the shuttle before, she is quite hard to visualize. I was thinking of using the EMU LCVG as a base and then adding airframe parts, but the best picture I can find is this:
23.jpeg

All the others showed even less of the body and were angled weird.
And they were all old men...:( Any references?
Also, would the OV sisters (septuplets?) have slightly different personalities?

Any attempt to visualize the shuttle stack resulted in a jumble of freezing cold girls...

So close, right?

Heh, I don't want to be mean to the XR5, but there's no way that girl in the red is... large enough... to represent the Vanguard. ;)

Also, how does the MK2 having a "fully functional VC" make it more "aware"?

Large in the cargo bay?
Anyway that girl is Vocaloid Meiko, and I was just surprised at the resemblance so I did a really quick Photoshop.

I didn't mean that to be a blank expression on the XR2's face but the added black in the corner of the mouth messed it up. But isn't the XR2 VC kind of spaced out, always showing you in the same spot on the map and someone called "Samuel Edwards" on board?
*edit*
It's Michael Samuel on board, Samuel Edwards is the stowaway.

Actually, if we could find a low-poly model of Meiko, we might be able to modify it as necessary and use it as a UMMU, or even a vessel.
But no, she herself cannot accept your UMMU.

Is that the MMD model? It doesn't really look like the style, but I don't see any other reason for making a 3D vocaloid model (aside from UMMU, of course .)

Yep, it's Tuesday. All the good orbinauts are in their spaceships. ;)
As it is, I was a bit tired for Orbiter tonight, so I did a quick KSC-ISS-Brighton hop (which in hindsight seems like a bit more than a hop) and now I'm back here, wondering why none of the image links work in the blog you posted. Perhaps registration is required?

Not sure why not, but FC2 is kind of jumpy about hotlinking pictures. Guess you could try going there without translating. :idk:
Also, pics of XR2 coming soon. I think I've worked out the SCRAM positioning...

Landing gear detail
picture.php

Sketch of ascent. May or may not ink.
picture.php

A few details I'd like to point out: nosecone is now on the right side, SCRAM engines are now mounted on upper thigh, gear is more detailed, hover moved to palms, crew hatch and fuel/LOX hatches moved to back, and radiator extends past the back a bit to make it more visible. The SCRAM will look better from the front, and the radiator will be more visible. Not sure what to do with lower arms, might be sides of the hull.

Happy New Release! (4 years better than New Year)
