Hi my fellow Orbinauts! I am just loving this program since I found it last week. I have managed to crash everything I've gotten my hands on so far but, Like Steve Austin, I keep coming back better, faster and stronger!!
So, onto my questions and sorry if they've been asked before....
Firstly, I have a spare Pc floating around the house. It ain't no great shakes but it runs Ok. I was wondering if I left Orbiter running on there, as like a server or something, could I access that "constant Universe" from my main Pc and fly consecutive missions or just "keep things alive"?
Secondly, I mostly fly an Eagle transporter (from Space 1999) as it's about the last but one fantasy space craft I haven't flown yet, (the other being X-Bomber) and I am constantly running out of fuel and having to ditch on the lunar surface, drift in a massive galactic orbit or slam into the Earth at mind-gurgling speeds. Is it possible to recover or refuel ships in Orbiter?
At my current skill level I can manage an orbit (of sorts) from an Earth launch and have ferried bits and bobs around the Moon in my Eagle. I am improving daily though and hope to be bringing some interesting things to the Universe soon...
My most sincere gratitude to anyone who can help me.

What you're referring to is a sort of multiplayer. Use the search function and you'll get TONS of results on the topic of that. Short answer: No
Is it possible to recover or refuel ships in Orbiter?
Short answer: Yes
Long answer: There are several ways, like the scenario editor (You can just set your fuel to max), FuelMFD (transfers fuel from one ship to another), or, if you're using a ship with fuel transferring capabilities (DGIV, XR vessels), you can do it that way

Good luck orbiting!

Do you mean you want to fly real time? If that's the case, you will have to plan your encounters carefully, as you might end up needing to do a burn or docking at 3AM.

Also, I think instead of letting your computer run 24/7 you could make use of the scenario editor, specifically the time. You could launch, figure the time of your next burn, then save and quit. Some time later when it comes time to burn, use the time editor to change it to 'now' and volia, its as if its been running unattended for a couple hours.

There isn't a built-in way to have multiple PCs use the same Orbiter with the same universe.

On a single machine, you can just keep re-using the current scenario which will hold all the current conditions.

A couple ways:
(More Realistic) You can use another ship - rendezvous - and use a downloadable MFD (fuel MFD) to transfer fuel.

(Quick / Less Realistic) You can enable Scenario Editor and edit the exiting fuel of any ship in the simulation.

At my current skill level I can manage an orbit (of sorts) from an Earth launch and have ferried bits and bobs around the Moon in my Eagle. I am improving daily though and hope to be bringing some interesting things to the Universe soon...

Enjoy!

Can you still do that thing with the landing pads or was that from a past version?

I don't remember.

Wow! Thanks for all these answers everyone! I'll leave my spare Pc where it is then, masquerading as a footrest, doorstop, conversation point.
I'm going to go find a fuel transfer thing right away. I know when I restart Orbiter all my Eagles will be safe back on their pads but, occasionally, I'd like to bring one back home myself lol.
As to ...
"Can you still do that thing with the landing pads or was that from a past version?

Um, the landing pads go down to the Eagle hangar (though the Eagle stays where it is!) and the docking tube comes out to lock onto the passenger compartment. If there's anything else I don't know.

May the Schwartz be with you all!

Don't forget to hail :probe:!
