Solar Sail 2 deployment command

I got the [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2984"]Solar Sail II[/ame] addon off of orbithangar today. The only problem I've had is with the sail deployment command. the readme says it's D, but that doesn't work. Anybody know my problem?

Thanks for posting this - I've also had the same problem and have yet to find a solution. Unfortunately, it's something I promptly forget to follow up on.

I see the author, Obiwan, has an account here and has visited as recently as yesterday. I've PMed him this problem, and hopefully we'll soon have an answer.

Deployment problems

Did you press J to jettison the Solar Sail from the Tug? I'm checking the sources, and on both my computers it worked.

Did it CTD or it doesn't do anything after pressing D?

After pressing J, you must change focus (press F3) to the Solar Sail. I just realize I didn't mention that on the doc, maybe that's the problem

Aha! I never did change focus, so perhaps this is the solution. I'm going to give it a try. I'll come back and post the results.

[Edit] Well, I feel absolutely stupid. Of course you have to switch ships to deploy the sail.

Switch ships - right? It works great for me now.

The potential for development of related addons is really exciting. For example, theoretically it's possible to move some of the near Earth asteroids into stable Earth parking orbits.

Has anyone else been entertaining the idea of really huge solar sail addons?

Yes, but much smaller. In terms of an orbital mining resource, this could be nearly as good as setting up shop on the Moon. At least in the short term.
