SL-S5: Skylab II Launch

A big day for the Space Station Freedom Program is almost here. The launch of Skylab II, the second major component of the Freedom program, is less than 24 hours away. For the last year workers at Vandenburg Airforce Base have been modifying Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) to launch the big Saturn V. The facililities are identical to the original launch pad specs. The launch platform is similar to the MLPs used at KSC but does not move. The launch tower was built using the original blue prints. The Saturn V is on the pad and ready to go, so are all the people who helped make the launch deadline. Skylab will be launched to a Polar orbit with the altitude of 600 x 610 km. Launch time is noon local time on the 4th.

UPDATE January 4 2011:
Skylab II has launched from SLC-4E and is in a transfer orbit to its finale orbit of 600x610 km. The launch was on time and had no issues to report.

UPDATE:
Skylab is in its orbit and is going through startup and checkout. The first shuttle launch to the new station will be on January 23 at 18:45 UTC. The payload will be an upgraded airlock and a SpaceHab SM.

Beautiful project, and it's cool how you tell us about it. Do you plan to release your scenarios?

Unfortunately, no. While I have used this project to work on my add-on making skills, I have used a lot of other add-ons. Not the whole thing, just the bits and pieces that I need. I'm working on releasing the parts that I have made, but none are release ready. The main thing is an updated X-38 and its PLB carrier.

I stumbled across your blog by chance and I'll say that I'm enjoying them. Would not mind seeing the scenarios or at least a blog entry listing what add-ons you used to make them.
