Shuttle abort

Hey guys i was sitting in school listening to my History teacher blabber on about the french revoulution and i wondered if a shuttle had to abort lets say in Ambely Air force base in Australia, how would they get the shuttle back to Kennedy. They can bareley make it to Edwards, do they have two shuttle carriers so they can switch between planes in midway or somewhere in the pacific. Im kind of hoping a shuttle will have to abort and land at Ambely becuase its just an 40 to 50 minute drive or so.

My guess would be a plane with an massive amount of fuel comes and they find a way to attach it to the plane and get it back. Another thought is a large ferry/freight.

They would probably just land and refuel every so often. And even if they couldn't make it even to Hawaii from Australia in one go, there would be nothing stopping them from landing a dozen times across Asia, Europe and back to North America via the northern route. I'm sure that many countries would be honored to have the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft refuel at one of their airports, assuming our government could bring itself to behave better in the international community.

That involves lots of $$$ in my opinion. I think it wold be easy just to fly to Hawaii, then refuel and try to make it to Australia depending on what airplane they will use.

Acually they have a barge equiped to transport the shuttle in the case of a TAL abort.
