Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas secured his maiden Formula 1 victory after holding off a late charge from Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel in the Russian Grand Prix.
Bottas jumped Vettel and team-mate Kimi Raikkonen at the start from his third position on the grid and dominated the race until the closing stages, when Vettel used a late pit stop to close up and pressure the Finn.

Didn't see the race, sounds like a good one, not for Lewis though!

The race had its moments, mostly the overtakes during the first lap and Vettel chasing Bottas in the end. But after the first lap there were no on-track overtakes during the whole race. None. That is mostly due to the track, but the regulations this year have done their part. Up to 30 laps on used Ultra Soft tires! And the "safe" distance to run behind each other was up to 5 seconds. They needed that much distance to the car in front to not get dirty air and temperature issues.

The overtaking situation should be better in Barcelona in two weeks though. But there are not many tracks where there will be lots of overtaking this season.

Kimi might have out-Kimied himself:
Ing: "We are 9.5 behind Bottas and 8 tenths a lap quicker"

Rai: "What do you mean, we are behind Bottas?"

Ing: "Confirmed, we are behind Bottas"

Rai: "How did we end up behind him and why we didn't stop earlier?"

Ing: "He was leading the race, Kimi"

Rai: "Ah okay I thought that they were the other way around"
