Retired Avatars Thread

I retired my empty avatar some month or two after joining O-F, and then, there has been only the one I'm using now (only with ninja smiley added above it after I got the red user name).

I once tried to do your avatar as a science project. Didn't work, so I had to go with the photoelectric effect instead.

I used this one for quite a while:

Fond memories of joining Blue and Orange Teams while wearing this:

I love that guy!

Your avatar has always reminded me of childhood trips to Griffith Planetarium in Los Angeles, where they have (had?) a large pendulum in the main lobby.:)

Keep 'em coming folks, this is nice, seeing all these old avatars.

IIRC I've been using the Agent Smith avatar since before we all migrated here from the old m6 forums after "The Great M6-o-clysm". I don't even remember how long ago that was. 2008 or 9? Earlier? I found Orbiter and joined m6 back in 2005, I think.

I've been told it suits my dark and gloomy outlook. Whatever. Truth is it's so cool-looking I've never seen a reason to change it.

And yes, I also think Urwumpe looks like Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius. I even remember Urwumpe's real name, but I like that nobody seems to know what his username means. Mystery is good.

It's going to be a real shame when they finally wreck the internet and eliminate anonymity some day. (There's that dark gloominess again.)

I have been using this avatar online almost exclusively since 2008. Only on a couple smaller sites have I used something different. Avatar changes should always be few and far between.

I generally use an empty avatar. But my sig pic probably qualifies as an avatar of sorts.

Would be only a minor change... that will hopefully be so far into the future, that then I would have a rather gray coyote as image...

I haven't had the urge to ever change my avatar so far because there's nothing more relevant than Earth, but I've just had an interesting idea while looking at this thread. Since Pluto's surface features are relatively unknown, I think that my avatar may be due for an upgrade in just two-and-a-half years (if I remember). It would be wonderful to see the first highly detailed images of the elusive ex-planet and make it my avatar so I can view the world any time I see one of my posts. I suppose it's a nerdy reason, but I figure this flyby will be as exciting to me as the first close-up observations of any of the planets, if I was alive during those previous planetary missions.

My current avatar is a picture of me circa 2004. I should probably update it.

Prior to "coming out", AKA using my real name and face as my internet ID, my avatar was...

560161

preceded by...

560161

I've also used this one on occasion, where it seemed appropriate.
