A probe to Earth? As I recall at least 12 people from the Moon have actually landed here...given that there is no current requirement for how long one must be on Luna to establish legal residency...

That ?. operator. Yes.

There is a picture of Earth from a probe in that series of photos. It was named in honour of "Mike Malaska", whoever that was.

Maybe the astronomer who discovered Earth? He must have been one hell of a stargazer, I'm sure most of us could scan the skies 24/7 for years and never get to see "Earth" through our scopes.

:facepalm:Of course; that's why it is a picture of water. First snap as the hatch opened.

Initially I thought he might have been an hitherto unknown Seppala trainer and explorer of cold worlds, but more likely 'tis what you say...

...and, I was going to ask if there was any possibility that life-forms might be probes of a sort, but...

"Really Commander?"

"Sigh...Probing Uranus."

Never mind...

Sorry, couldn't resist. /fi-ˈlā/ and /ˈfiːleɪ/ sound so similar. At least to me they do.

There's an image there that I can't see, but regarding the difference between /fi-ˈlā/ and /ˈfiːleɪ/, you seem to be mixing IPA with one of the English phonetic transcription schemes used by dictionaries. Depending on what the non-IPA transcription scheme is and how much mixing you're doing, you may even have written the same thing twice. In particular, the sound traditionally written as "ā" in English transcription schemes is exactly [eɪ] in IPA in most English dialects.

I'm not sure there's still a Sun up there. Maybe we should launch a GoPro on a rocket to find out.

Careful...if you do that, you need to be prepared for the truth you will discover.

Lately I've been watching the TV show Gotham.

The Batman stories have always been my favorite comic book universe, Gotham City is a seedy, corrupt, film noir version of NY City loaded with absolute psychopaths like the Joker; even Bruce Wayne himself is kind of crazy. And there are no magic superpowers, all the villians and the hero have at least a pseudo scientific explanation for their abilities. As a result, Batman villians are just crazier versions of organized crime bosses. And of course, Gotham has its own "normal" mafia-types like Carmine Falcone, just to keep that noir factor up.

The TV show satisfies my urge for some noir fiction. It's set in what looks like the 1980s, judging by the cars, but with some higher tech as well.

Best of all, though, the guy who steals the show hands down, is Robin Lord Taylor's portrayal of Oswald Cobblepot and his progression towards becoming the Penguin.

The Penguin is a villain that has always been overshadowed by some more interesting ones such as the Joker and the Riddler, but this version of the Penguin is spot on amazing. The character is charming, ruthless, vicious, absolutely driven to climb the ranks of organized crime, and willing to put himself at considerable risk to do so.

Finally, a Penguin we can all relish watching.

Wow thats a really cool topic, non-volatile memory.

Im not sure I understand the last part though? Uninitialized variable?

If you don't explicitly initialize a variable with a defined value. it contains either garbage, which will be rather easy to spot as bug, or in this case, the last stored value before power was turned off, which is a valid value for the variable and thus harder to spot during debugging.
