Yeah Australia seems to be the new germany when it comes to keeping "inapropriate content" out of the hands of... everyone.

You have to admit, that the German version is still the best advertisement for the indexed media.

Deadly but no TGV crash, it was a regional train disaster in a train station, at least 4 deaths.

It was the Paris (Gare d'Austerlitz) -> Limoges passengers train. 6 dead, 2 critically injured, more than 10 wounded. The accident happened in a station near Paris. The train was not supposed to stop there, just going through at 90 km/h. It seems that 200 meters before the station, a point between two tracks failed. Not exactly the point itself, but a piece that held the previous rail to the point section suddenly went off, and got squished and bent by the train in the heart of the point. The third car jumped over it, the train derailed, ran for the 200 meters and finally devastated the station. Could have been worse with more than 400 passengers aboard !! The bad condition of "secondary" (non-TGV) lines has been often put forward. But the possiblity of a sabotage is not completely ruled out (the piece was held with 4 massive bolts, and there is no way they unbolted all at the same time).

Happy Bastille Day for all French orbinauts!

Thanks, but here's something that even a lot of french people don't know. We're not celebrating the "Bastille Day", but technically, we're commemorating the "Fête de la Fédération" held the 14th of July 1790, which was a (political) celebration of the "Bastille Day" from 1789.

The 14th of July became the national fest day only in 1880, under the 3rd Republic.

Yeah, that's a bit technical and doesn't change anything ;)

The Large Hadron Collider walks into a pub and sees the Higgs Boson crying in a corner of a room, so it goes over and says "what's the matter?"

For todays facepalm moment...

Wife walks into the door when leaving the bedroom. The bedroom door, was open.
Somehow that woman still manages to walk right into it

If you have an officer/investigator neighbor, you may want to keep that story to yourself.
"No really, she just runs into doors all the time." :P
Some things are just better left unexplained:

Actually she does run into stuff all the time.
Her mom has a story she tells me about her tripping in a parking lot... Over the painted stripes. Seriously. She's perhaps one of the clumsiest people I've ever known.

She'll have a new bruise on her shin or something and I'll ask where she got it, her response is usually a shrug with an "I don't know".

When she does stuff like that the kid and I will exchange one of those "looks" that says multitudes.

I'm rather intrigued by this similarity:

I wonder if that's just some illusion of the projection?

That's an illusion surely, and that kind of illusions (for example, seeing a rat instead of a martian rock) have a special name I've forgotten.

Ha. You've not Krys have you?

On my birthday, my 40th birthday, she takes the car to the garage for a service. She opens the door, gets out, one of the mechanics says 'mind that floor, its a bit slipp..' and down she goes.

But that's not enough for Krys, she hasn't just got a bruise or a sprained ankle but a hairline fracture......

:tiphat:

It's been dark and stormy for a few days and will continue to be, but I guess that's better than being 110 degrees. Especially since I've been indoors like...all of summer. Not used to this passive-aggressive rain and thunder. :P

Do what? Damn. Hope it's not too bad on her.

Yeah, the weather's been absolutely beautiful since Sunday. In Seattle or London they wouldn't be pleased with it at all, but CAVOK in July in Dallas is absolutely terrible (if typical) weather.

So one of my friends (girl, mind you) just randomly got mad at me and just slapped me for god knows what reason....

No, I'm not pleased, I'm hot'n'bothered... :beathead: My machine turns off when it overheats, I ay done nothing for a week on it. :beathead: The flat is VERY hot and the fans just recycle the heat from outside with no relief. :beathead: The four fans on my base unit ain't do'in what they are supposed to do. :compbash2:

I prefer the mild to bad weather, at least I can do my stuff.
