Really folks, it's only a matter of time before someone gets bored during their lunch break and tries to create some stable strangelets (provided the hypothesis is true and the danger exists). Maybe not at the LHC, but the next big accelerator.

On August 5, they will disarm a major WW2 bomb at the Volkswagen factory here. it is not known yet, what kind of bomb it is, but they plan with an evacuation radius of 1200 meters. The bomb itself was already discovered in May during probing, in 4 meters depth.

The approximate location of the bomb is here, near factory hall 39.

As you can see, 1200 meters radius involves quite a large chunk of the factory and the surrounding quarters of the city.
