It's kinda difficult to do anything at a computer when there's a two-year old nearby. That goes double if there's Orbiter running. So I decided to show him the planets. For every planet he saw, he immediately used his baby-talk for "ball". Only for Venus and Saturn he said "Mmmmmm", which usually means sweats. The devil knows what he sees in them...

Saturn is obvious, he implies there's a candy factory in Enceladus ocean and the geysirs are actually the factory venting stem from their production.

And Venus? Probably some special chemical reaction happens in the atmosphere that automatically creates the best kandy in the whole universe!

Meanwhile Governor Christie announces the Jersey space program, set to carry candy from Venus to Earth. It will be interesting.

Grrrrr!

Rage quit Tomb Raider because of the freakin' keyboard button timing thingys.
Tired of trying to kill the Oni on the Endurance.

Thee are people saying how "easy" it is with a controller. Well, if I'd known that I needed an X-box controller I probably wouldn't have bought the game.

I do like the game however, it's more like an interactive movie. Parts of it are pretty heart pounding. But these keyboard "games" ruin the immersion of it.

I'm goingg back to Pandora for a while, maybe Claptrap has some missions for me.

Really? Well that's interesting. I've had Tomb Raider sitting in my Steam library for a while, but have never found the time to download and play it. I'll start pulling it now and report back so see if I encounter the same problems.

WTF, Tomb Raider and X-Box controller?
X-Box wasn't invented back then.

...they made a new Tomb Raider game in 2013, and called it just Tomb Raider?
Ouch.

Especially since it's practically "LOST - ft. Lara Croft", and there's no actual tomb raiding going on...

Just found a 3rd part X-box controller for $12 at Wally-World. So after the rage subsides I'll give it another go.

A few dudes have said they use their keyboards most of the time, but the QuickTime things have them reaching for the controller just for the button presses.

Try Space Engine. Show him some rad giant, like Betelgeuse, I wonder what he will say for it

Based on color, maybe butterscotch?

Saturn's rings may imitate the "equatorial" ridge around certain lollipops, and the cloud patterns may also resemble some of the variations in dye concentration in some hard candies.

First one, I'm guessing is a C-17.

Second one is a E-3, not sure what version. Can't see what engines is has.

I am now a thousandaire in terms of posts! I only need to make 21,403 more posts until I catch up to Urwumpe which will take me 39,635 days at my current rate, or about 109 years.*

I've decided I need to buy a new microwave. There's nothing 'mechanically' wrong with my current one. It does a great job of heating my food. But when I type in 90 seconds on the control panel, I want to see it count down the seconds from 90. Mine converts it to 1:30 and counts down from there. I don't like that. [/SheldonMoment]

As a percentage of population more Canadians died during WWII than Americans.
Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron, might have been killed by a Canadian pilot, at least another Canadian pilot got him to follow him over allied territory.
During both world wars Canada already fought and lost good men while the US was like "Meh, I'll just wait here, make money and smoke a cigar."

Yes, Canada knows.

And don't forget that one of the worst battles in WW1 had been fought by Australian and Newzealand soldiers.

But seriously...

Straight off the bat; corvettes, frigates and destroyers in Canadian service were an absolute "rock" of escort support during the Battle of the Atlantic. Try here for some on-line reference of the Canadian Navy.

Don't forget Juno Beach, either.

And a bit more personal;

P/O Edward "Nibs" Palmer McGee, mid upper gunner of 15 Sqd Stirling W7611, KIA on the night of the 2 September, 1942, en-route to Karlsruhe, was RCAF, from Montreal. I understand that he is commemorated on the "Monuments aux Braves" in St. Lambert, Québec. The pilot who had been taken off the same crew two missions previously, Kenneth McMillan, was from New Zealand. He went on to serve two tours on 75 RNZAF Sqd, and survived the war after all that! I have it on understanding he was a superlatively excellent pilot, not to mention lucky.

But to be completely fair, the co-pilot of this aircraft on the night of the 2nd September, P/O George Quinn (KIA), was an American, from Baltimore, who had joined the RAF on his own volition, before US entry into the war. It was only his second operation, after his training at 1651 HCU. A mixed bunch, as many were on bomber crews.
