From the Apollo 12 moon mission. The ship was struck by lighting on liftoff and its electronic systems went out of whack. A Flight controller named John Aaron told the flight director to have them switch "SCE to aux". This fixed the problem and saved Apollo 12 from being aborted.

No surprise there. I only bother with settings if I use a programm a lot, and know what I'm doing. Or if it doesn't work...

Still, the Word zero-initialised config file had implications even worse than the disabled auto-save. The compatibility mode for older .doc files is disabled also. I had to dig my path through a ton of settings just to load in an older file, and most users don't even know that there's a compatibility mode... Nor do I understand why anyone would make such a compatibility mode an OPTION and not just hardwire it into the programm. I can't see any backdraws.

Assuming that Microsoft knows what it's doing is generally a bad idea :lol:
