You know, for all of Grand Moff Tarkin's faults, he DID reduce unemployment on Alderaan to zero...

Status ... crazy

Windows 10 system was killed by its update with many system libraries lost, neither sfc nor dism work ... now I managed to repair my old surface RT for downloading a windows 10 ISO from Microsoft maybe I can repair it that way.

I just realized how badass we all are :)
Flying around our solar system, landing on moons, handling our space ships, reentry on earth, landing on a specific spot - and not crashing.

My wife always says: "I can't understand why you like this game. Staring at a black screen, watching numbers - the most boring game ever."

... I stopped trying to explain it to her... :)

Yeah, we're still working on that.

Yeah right, sometimes it happens.

The realization just occured while finishing this flight:

1. Several flights with my beloved DGIV to the Arrow Freigher (which is docked to the ISS)
-> Dropping of cargo and crew
-> Several reentrys and landings on Wideawake International
2. Final docking of the DGIV to the cargo bay of the Arrow
3. Transfer to Mars
4. Loading the first bunch of the crew into the DGIV
5. Deorbit and landing at Orcus Patera
6. Repeat until all cargo and crew are at Orcus Patera
7. Docking with the Arrow
8. Transfer to Earth
9. Deorbit the DGIV
10. Landing at Wideawake (in the night time - I hate it)

... and then standing in front of the DGIV and it occured to me: We are badass :)

My favorite was flying a nuclear pulse drive Orion ship to Mars and sending landers to the surface of the planet and both moons, before nuking my way back and aero braking into low Earth orbit and getting ferried home on a Lockheed Star Clipper shuttle for a night landing at the Cape.

Flying around the solar system on blast waves of nuclear explosions is pretty much the definition of badass.

Okay, that was it, window was really dead it did not even recognise it is a windows 10 partition anymore

I'm 43 years old and realized that no human stepped on another planet during my lifetime...so far.

That really sounds more like the HD going the way of the Dodo than a Win10 update problem. I'd think twice about using that thing again.

Just imagine where we would be if space was full of pretty colors.

Checked the SSD three times now, it is fine. The only files that went missing are some essential windows .DLLs, which killed the system.

It is, but you need a telescope and long exposures to see them...

No it isn't. It's like 99.99% black. That's not colorful in my book.

Soooo.... notebook is back again, office already installed... Maybe I will be back in add-on development until Christmas.

I think my netbook died today. Was shutting down unexpectedly during operation. I took it apart, cleaned a lot of dust out of the fan and put it back together. Booted up once, thought all was good, then I touched the keyboard and suddenly screen started showing noisy patterns. Shut it down and now it won't boot.

All the data is backed up so no big deal, just means I have to shop for a new computer. Anybody have any good suggestions for a good laptop for someone who does Linux and tends to do math-type stuff (interpreted programming for heat transfer and fluid mechanics modeling instruction)? I'd prefer not to pay the Windows tax if at all possible. I think I want something with a dedicated graphics card - the Intel Atoms I have had on my last two laptops are not Linux-friendly. I'm seeing a lot of gaming laptops in the $700-$800 range that might be a fit.

You can add color to almost anything. Heat doesn't become colorful because we have thermal imaging.

Light doesn't seize to exist just because its wavelength cannot be registered by the limited apparatus of our eyes ;)
