What other 3D modelling programs are there? I am sick of Anim8or and how I cannot load textures bigger than 1.00 MB. I can't do much with it either. Oh yeah, it has to be freeware. Later this year I will buy AC3D. There links if that isn't a problem too.

Does XSI have an Orbiter plug in too?

XSI sadly does not have a plugin for Orbiter. I asked on an XSI forum if someone wants to write one, but so far, no luck. What I do to get to a mesh is this:
Export fbx
Use fbx converter to turn the fbx to a .3ds
Then I use 3ds2msh to convert it to a mesh.

The plus side is that I have pretty much all the "tutorial" you might need to get started with XSI. (I was writing a sc3 tutorial, then gave up, but I finished the "working with XSI" part)

Thanks. I'll try to get acquainted with XSI.

The Google Sketch Up is the easiest to use,but only the Pro version can convert to 3ds.

For what it's worth, all my addons have been built and textured with AC3D, I think it's price is very cheap for what it can do. Yes, it's not the most amazing and doesn't have all the tools, but what it has got is easy to use. Plus I have had no issues with it's Orbiter.msh exporter plug-in.

For Orbiter dev I do recommend it.

I like Lightwave, but it is payware.
It is very flexible and powerful, and it has good rendering performance.
Babylon 5 TV series used it.
