First, a kind hello to all members, from another old fart.

My question is this....being brand new to the Orbiter sim, I would like to know if it's possible to network another (or multiple) PC's so that you can have various MFD's displayed on another computer, and be able to have a 'main' display that is the "out the front" cockpit view? Kinda what is available to the flight sim community...

Now that I am retired, I would LOVE to build an orbiter sim pit in my workshop, and utilize keyboard emulators to capture keystrokes, and digital output cards to control the switch lights and so forth.

How real can I make it?

Thank you...

Jim

As real as you want! Well, almost.
I can definitely help with the keyboard emulator part, and I know another guy who is doing (or wants to) the triple display thing. You may contact me direct for further information. I'll be glad to send pics and info.

Try searching for simpit in the old M6 forum. You'll find some inspiration and tipps there.

There is Software (payware I believe) that acts as a graphics card (with several screens) and displays. Totaly native to windows.
The catch is, it sends the data over the network and you can view it on any PC screen you like. AFAIK it is very well known in the simpit community.
Too bad I can't remember what it was called.

Are you thinking of MaxiVista? http://www.maxivista.com/

Toddwess uses MaxiVista for his Shuttle orbiter flight deck. I don't think he indicated the performance impact, but he seemed happy with it (and the laptops he got from eBay.) Try looking through his old posts on M6 for more info.
