Question Need Help with My First Spacecraft

One of the things I've always wanted to do with Orbiter is to recreate the Enterprise tour scene from Star Trek The Motion Picture.

I've successfully managed to build the Orbital Office (and I hope to make it available soon), and I've built 3d models of the Travel Pod and Workbee.

I'm trying to import the Travel Pod into Orbiter, but Orbiter keeps crashing. Orbiter.log gives the following info.

Whatever is going wrong is causing Orbiter to crash.

I'm not sure what I've done wrong.

I'm using Vinka's Spacecraft3.dll and I've placed my t_pod_v01.ini in the Orbiter\Config\Spacecraft directory.

My t_pod_v01.msh is in Orbiter\Meshes

and I've place my .scn file in Orbiter\Scenarios

For some reason, I can't see the Travel Pod in orbiter, even though it shows up in the vehicle selection screen.

I've pasted my .ini file and my .scn files below.

Any help would be appreciated.

The reason this isn't working lies in your scenario.
You need to have a backslash and not a slash between Spacecraft and Spacecraft3.

Spacecraft\Spacecraft3

edit: When posting scenarios or ini files, either use a quote or attach the files to your post. It makes it much easier to read and prevents smilies from popping up in your code. Alternatively you can disable smilies when posting.

Code tags work well too, because the forum puts a vertical scroll bar in the code box for long entries.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm still not having any luck.

I did, however discover a problem with the way 3ds Max handles scaling when exporting .3ds files. (3ds Max should not have units of measurement turned on.)

So I've fixed all of that, converted my file using 3ds2msh, and my .msh file imports opens just fine in MeshWizard 1.9D, and even gives correct dimensions.

But I still can't seem to get the .msh file into Orbiter.

I've bundled everything up (the .ini file, .msh file, and my sceneraio, including my .3ds file used to generate the .msh file) and placed them here:

Try naming the vessel in the scenario the same as the spacecraft ini file.
So naming it t_pod_v01 works. Otherwise Spacecraft.dll does not know what you are talking about in the scenario.

That did the trick!

Now I'm running into two problems:

1. No attitude thrusters (But main and retro are working fine).

2. When my mesh is brought into Orbiter, my model is reversed in the x direction (i.e., the left side of my model appears as the right side when in Orbiter). The model looks fine in Max and in MeshViewer, though.

Any suggestions?
