I just recently started to fly in Orbiter.
I decided to start from the roof of his house and not found Moscow!
In the end, I decided to draw myself.

The level of detail 3, 30 tiles.

Attack of the Kremlin :)

Khimki (my friend SiberianTiger lives there).

Ironically, on the border tiles it even coincides with the global structure.

I blurred the edges, but the border is still very noticeable.
How to solve this problem? Add also the neighborhood of Moscow in detail 1 or 2?

I'll try to draw 3D buildings, such as the Kremlin, the Ostankino TV tower, etc.

Planetary Orbiter engine is clearly out of date by 10 years. It would be nice to rewrite it.
Someone is doing this? What are the ideas?

What you can also try to do is to "smooth" the border of the tiles, using transparency (alpha channel), with a tool like Paint.net

That's normal that the hi-res tiles match the global textures. It means you did a good positioning job !

And about the 3D engine there are currently 2 active projects : D3D9 client and D3D11 client (which will feature terrain elevation).
