I saw this and was just thinking....

what if that support broke.

I guess nothing would really happen..because it's not fuelled yet..but, the people would be squished :P

ouchie!

I guess most people would be able to dodge it before it squishes them. *Most* ;)

I would hope... ;)

still it is really long, if you were close enough, and in the middle...:(

I would run in a straight line perpendicular to the tank. It's big, so it should take it some time to really start rolling.

You would as well wonder "What if that bridge collapsed?", "What if that building fell over?", "What if that plane's wing fell off?". All of these are engineered structures with appropriate safety factors. Yes, some fail from time to time, but I can think many more structures who's failure would have much greater consequences for those nearby.

Ah, but in this thread we are discussing the failure of support structures of the ET. So lets speculate on that shall we? Someone else can create a thread about bridges collapsing if they really want to.

You could 'what if' yourself to death if you wanted...

how about this one... what if the Earth suddenly decides to start spinning the other way...

Well, it would have to first stop, sending everyone flying at several hundred miles an hour...

I'm pretty sure that a bridge is more likely to collapse than the Earth is to start spinning the other way!

Getting back on topic, I sure as hell wouldn't want to be near the ET if its support struts broke. I wonder presume that there is a support at the rear end that would be broken off too the side strut breaks. I wonder how far the ET would roll? It seems the ground around the unloading area is pretty flat.

It has to roll a good distance though, because it takes alot of energy to get something with that much weight, to stop, but then again, it takes just as much energy to start it...
