Hi. I'm new here, and totally new to Orbiter. I just found it by accident a couple nights ago, and haven't actually used it yet, but I'm very excited about getting started. So, I'm already confused -- am I supposed to intro myself on a new thread as I'm doing here or leave a message on that sticky-thingy? Well, anyway, I live in the Los Angeles area, help immigrants, bang on drums (perhaps louder than my minimal skills merit), do some woodworking (still have all my fingers), play ultimate, bike, think Yves Rossy ("Jetman") is pretty awesome, listen to "This American Life" and "Planet Money" and "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" regularly, and try to be a good husband/son/brother/friend/neighbor. Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Nice to meet you! Welcome to the wonderful world of Orbiter! :)

It is tricky picking up the first few steps, but you'll get the hang of it after reading through the documentation! :)

This is best place for a first post. Welcome!

Unless you are already a rocket scientist, I recommend "Go Play In Space" for your introduction to Orbital Mechanics:

http://www.amcsorley.dsl.pipex.com/play_in_space.htm

That's how most of us learned Orbiter - it's quite a bit more challenging than most flight sims - and GPIS helps a lot by explaining what's important. The Orbiter Manual is a good reference, but it actually provides a lot more info than you need at the beginner level s it helps if you can "filter" out the stuff you don't need to know (yet).

:welcome: to the forums!

As far as learning goes, I can only agree with everything Tommy said.

Happy orbiting!

And yes, this thread is fine!

Thx folks for your encouragement. Lookin' forward to getting busy w/ Orbiter!
