Fascist Jörg Haider dies in car accident

Well, good riddance is a bit hard, as he was pretty main stream among Austria's conservatives. He was not the worst fascist in Europe, there are more extreme candidates.

Also, this is a fate, I would not even wish my archenemy.

I don't think that Jörg Haider deserved to die only for being a well known right-wing populist. In Europe we still have freedom of expression in a way, although I don't like that kind of party Haider worked for.

Adolf Hitler deserved to die in my point of view, for the big bull.... he was responsible for in Europe but in fact also worldwide. And he was strong enough to do it himself like a sort of man he always propagandized. Other than Saddam Hussein for example, who behaved like a fearful child, looked like a mongrel when he got pulled out of his dugout, trembled all over his body and was praying shortly before he was going to hung. I bet that he even was that kind of islamist who was afraid of women, if you know what I mean.

Actually Saddam was trash-talking the crowd right before they dropped the trapdoor on him. He was a first class skunk, but I don't think he was a physical coward. He rose to power by being a button man for the Baath Party, which called for using his fists and getting into gunfights.

Perhaps MTV should bring back Celebrity Deathmatch, and stage fights between various dictators to see which ones were the toughest. My money would be on Stalin and Saddam. Hitler and Mao were lightweights. Throw in Cromwell while you're at it, I'd bet he'd make a good account of himself in a brawl, but he didn't murder enough of his own citizens to really fit into the category. Same goes for Napoleon.

I'd bet on Saddam, because he actually did some dirty work himself.

But if monarchs are also allowed, I'd choose Charlemagne.

I think that those guys like Hussein are only strong within their pack. Just look what he looked like when they pulled him out of his small dirty dugout and even more when he was going to be killed. He was only a big showmaster.

Anyway, in a two-man fight without any weapons, Hussein as well as Hitler would just look like wimps. No difference for sure.

Well, it's not like he was in any position to offer resistance, since he was surrounded by an American rifle company and looked like he hadn't slept in a week. But there is something to what you say. I think the more brutal the dictator, the more insecure they are personally.

If we are going with monarchs, I'd have to say Leonidas, but now we're getting a bit far out!

As someone very involved with bosnia and bosnian people, honour demands that I bet my money on Tito! :P

Allthough throwing him in the same cathegory with Hitler, Stalin and Hussein would be somewhat unfair. Generaly he killed only those he had to...

Moonwalker, I have no idea how you can say Saddam wasn't at least somewhat brave. If you ever saw the video of his execution you'll see that he behaved with dignity, despite the crowd in the room.
And what's wrong with praying? I'd bet many people braver than you have prayed before facing something tough.

Also, the execution was not normal - he had been insulted and attacked by people looking for revenge during his last minutes. And that was it. Not final justice, just cold revenge. Which obviously did not satisfy all.

I may have confused his execution with another one. But not his dugout ;)

Isn't that what they all say? When a mugger murders me for my sneakers, he will tell his buddies, "He wouldn't give me his shoes, so I had to kill him." Thugs are thugs, be they on the street or at the helm of a dictatorship. And they all suck.

I think Mao also killed for fun. he was pretty creative in finding reasons for sentencing somebody to death.

Good ol' Winston really had some zingers. Lets not forget this one:

Elizabeth Braddock: Mr. Churchill, you are drunk.
Churchill: And you madam, are ugly. As for my condition, it will pass by the morning. You, however, will still be ugly.

I always thought Churchill was a smart a**

My respect for Churchill has just dropped a notch or two.
