Lortech Aerospace & Woo Aerospace proudly presents

Evolved Transport System Themis Launch Vehicle

Themis Launch Vehicle is versatile expendable multistage launcher for various payloads. Unique configuration system gives it flexibility needed to fulfill many types of the missions. You can configure your rocket via simple config files (and create new ones).

LV uses Payload Manager for (you've guessed it) payload management. As for now it lacks launch autopilot but you can use Artlav's great UAP. Also easy handling makes launches very easy to perform.

Stack consists of 4 SRBs, Kerosene fueled Core stage and optionally 2 upper stages.

Installation as usual: unpack to orbiter folder preserving directory structure.

PS - keys for navigator probe are:
1 - deploy RTG
2 - deploy dish reciever
k - deploy instrument arms

Hail the probe

Happy Tuesday  Now, time to start working on the next release

Now it's time to perfect the shuttles - and again it was a pleasure working with you.

PayloadManager is stated as required SDK/add-on on OHM download page.

Looks shockingly familiar. ;) Nice to see it up on the hangar. Good work, guys.

Initial feedback: Engine gimballing gets wild when using killrot. The vehicle shudders, especially badly near the end of the first stage burn.

Edit: Also, the initial ascent is a little heavy on the particle streams. The framerate drops uncomfortably for a few seconds due to all the smoke...perhaps the particle count could be safely halved...

Other than that, nothing but praise for this initial release! The meshes are beautiful and easy on the less-than-awesome computer, and the way the launcher is configured is brilliant. :11sign:

I'm really looking forward to the evolution of this project.

(pun unintended...)

Absolutely fantastic launcher, I can already tell this is going to be one of my favorites. Gave her a test run and put the Navigator probe (Hail the prophet of the one true Probe!) into a trans-jovian orbit with no trouble.

I can confirm the issues with the first stage gimballing and killrot (attitude mfd was having a time of it too) and the fps drop during launch, although my computer is pretty beefy and didn't have too much trouble with it. Also the range safety detonation doesn't seem to be working. I don't know if that feature is planned to be functional in this release, but at the moment Ctrl-A just makes the launcher disappear. An invisible vessel named Themis-Core keeps on going, and it looks like there might be a few extra smoke particles spawned but that's it. If you attach a LES in the config and then abort, the LES shoots off like it's supposed to, but then the booster just keeps on going like nothing happened. This is all on a clean install with only ETS and Universal Cargo Deck installed.

Anyway aside from those issues this launcher is really slick, great job guys!

Thanks for the reports  I've fixed the missing range safety and halved the particles, I have no idea how to make the TVC more stable at the moment though, but I'll look into it. I've given Loru the fixed .dll so the package should be updated with it pretty soon

I dont know what to do to put a cargo in the vehicle. What file I have to write?

There's no need to edit any files because the vessel uses Kluch's Payload Manager  The "PayloadManager_user.pdf" file in the Doc directory should be enough to help you figure out how to add payloads to the vessel.

I tried Payload Manager, but when I want to attach him to the rocket I find that It doesnt appear any ETS in the list of vessels. Like if the rocket doesnt exist.

Nice launch vehicle! Best one I've seen since Energia was released!

I'm having some big payloads waiting for launch, but all the fairings are to small. I really would like to launch the Dragonfly with it, but it's very wide, requiring a 8x16 fairing. I'll use orbitersdk's Shipedit.exe for now to resize it, but some larger fairing in future version would be great.

How do you use UAP to launch it? I tried selecting the basic liftoff autopilot but it simply accelerates vertically until fuel runs out.

Use LaunchMFD. it's lots easier to understand IMO. Whenever i use it to launch this, i manually lift-off, roll to correct heading, and pitch over to something like 70 degrees and hold this until around 10k, then have LAUNCHMFD's AP take over until MECO.

I have problems with both UAP and Launch MFD. With UAP nothing happens and it just goes up, and Launch MFD causes the rocket to spin. I'll try to do it with the Atlantis launch script.

Same. It's a really nice looking addon and the Payload Manager support is great, but to be really useful it needs some kind of autopilot.
