Gaming Elite: Dangerous

I played some of E:D before the Horizons DLC and enjoyed it but have not played it since.

My question is, Is Horizons worth the £19.99 (its current Steam price) considering I have already spent £30 on E:D, or should I wait for a sale and put the money in to the next Mass Effect?

Just another regular day at the starport.

Well, another community goal, another ~16M credits (top 10%). Life is good.

Oh, you've got to be kidding me! They're still mistaking the red cross for the swiss flag in the 34th century?? It's called the red cross, not the white cross, damit!

Well, the universal sign for a first aid kit looks like this today:

It does? well, it's an improvement in terms of ambiguity I guess, but I've never seen this "univeral sign" before

I thought initially it is just the German standard, but it seems to be international already since 2012 (DIN EN ISO 7010)

I wasn't aware that the geneva convention covers the usage of the logo in media. No wonder so many use the swiss flag instead. It is after all what the original logo was based on. The red-cross is originally a Swiss NGO, long before that status even existed, so you could argue that the concept of an NGO is a swiss invention.

Which makes me think about the legal status of flags. I mean, you can use any flag in any kind of media without permission, but it's still highly illegal to use a wrong flag in certain circumstances. Maybe they should just update the status of the red cross from a Logo to that of an official flag, since the problems with its usage seem to be pretty much identical.

So I got Horizons and am now out Exploring.

I stopped off at the end of my first 1000LY leg to test everything out, next I'll continue on towards the Statue of Liberty Nebula, then onwards to Eta Carina Nebula.

Today's exploring I have travelled to and scanned, 32 systems, 47 stars and 65 Planets or Moons. Including

A water Planet with a Ship wreck in orbit.

And a Binary Moons that should not have long left.

The Python got improved a bit, with A-rated thrusters and grade 2 dirty drive tuning, increasing speed from about 250 to about 300 m/s, and making it able to boost to 390 or so, making it possible to run away at will at least from most non-engineered ships. Maneuverability is also better, especially for such a big-ish ship. :)

So Im now in "Col 240 Sector PY-R d4-33" with 915LY left to the Statue of Liberty Nebula, that I have to do tonight so I can get back to the bubble before Thursday.

My adventures earlier consisted of finding a resource rich planet and finding a mountain to climb.

Finding it steep at times

Then getting to the top only to then spend 5 minutes rolling down the other side and fixing the SRV all the time, followed by 90 minutes of trying to get off that rock as i could not find a safe place to load the SRV back aboard.

Speaking of the Elite Universe, this is my personal interpretation of the venerable Imperial Courier (the old and real one, not the Dangerous incarnation)... for Orbiter.

Something really bad is happening. This was taken at HIP 17044. And get this. It was sending out a message in morse. it says

UNKNOWN VESSELS DETECTED.
SERVER PURGE FAILED.
SHIP ASSETS LIQUIDATED.
PAYLOAD DESTROYED.
SHIP STATUS LOST.

Prepare yourselves, men. The Thargoids are coming and I have my engineered anaconda to blast them to dust.

Given the distance of the recently discovered Thargoid base from the bubble, it sounds like it might get dangerous out there for unarmed explorers outside the bubble as well. I guess time will tell. One thing's for sure, I'm not taking my explorerconda out of the bubble without bringing some guns with me... jump range be damned.

*Dusting off thread*

Since the Thargoids are coming with the next update (2.4), I got a bit back into E:D.

The asteroid stations, new to 2.3, are something I never got to see before:
