ELIS - the new highly technological small launcher for light payloads

MT4 - the mini telescope, perfectly working in orbiter!!

Features:

ELIS:
  • Completely developed in .dll
  • Autoguidance working from lift off to final orbit, with only apogee, perigee and desired orbit inclination parameters needed.
  • Payload fully customizable using a simple .ini file
  • interstage ullage and retrofire
  • HUD information display
  • Complete customized set of ground control sounds during pre-launch and ascent
  • .txt launch report automatically generated
MT4:
  • Actually working telescope!!! with the most "far seeing" view possible in orbiter
  • Two different zoom view possible (aiming view and telescope view)
  • HUD information display
  • Solar Panels sun tracking function and battery charging function
  • Data transmission to home base function
  • Brief small data sent .txt file report created
Thanks to Forum Orbiter Italia for doing some Beta-Testing and support, and for launching this vector for it's maiden official live flight. You can check the video of the flight at this link:

Wow! Really Great addon. Is this compatible with DirectX9, because I'm getting some weird problems with it. Some of the telescope mesh disappears when I go to aiming view and back and viewing from external view. I'm also getting crashes when going to aiming view and telescope view, however, this is probably due to my computer running out of memory.

Thank you!

Can you please post a screenshot or be a bit more precise? actually I've been testing MT4 for a very long time also with D3D9, and never had any graphical issue.

I found what the problem was. I tested it on another computer with 6 GB memory. It seems that the crash was due to having only 2 GB memory.

Hello,
A very nice launcher and telescope, thanks !

A small thing :
* the names Periapse and Apoapse seem to be reversed, in the first stage screen,
(just the names).

Mmmm, do you mean the "Target Perigee" and "Target Apogee" on the HUD? I checked and they are correct. Maybe I misunderstand what you exactly mean

Yes, I have on the HUD, at the end of Burning time :
Target Perigee : 185 km
Target Apogee : 160 km

and read on the MFD Orbit :
PeA 160.0 k
ApA 186.9 k

May be the targets may differ from the effective PeA and ApA ?

Well in the HUD the guidance program displays what you input, so if you put an Apogee lower than a Perigee then it displays those values on the hud.
When prompted in the dialog box there is written specifically "Please be sure that PeA<=ApA". The only reason to swap the values is the High Eccentricity Orbit Insertion (Please see documentation for this).

But anyway the autoguidance drives you to the proper orbit, so if you input inverted values for Apa and PeA then it drives you anyway in the orbit with correct Apa and Pea values!

I hope i was clear enough

Yes you were, you're right : I have checked, sorry, it is my bad inputs

Now I need more memory on my computer to see the view with the telescope !

I have only 2 gigs of memory on my computer, and I've had no crashes so far. I'm also using the inline graphics client. This is a great addon fred18 and I hope people aren't scared away by 'needing' to upgrade for it.

Yes, but I have a complete planet texture pack for every planet in the system. Also I have about 45 asteroid and comet addons.

You should have said that in the first place. Saying you had memory problems and then saying 4 more GB of RAM solved them doesn't tell anyone that this particular addon didn't cause the memory problem, or what did.

Nice work on this add-on. The audio commentary really adds another level to the immersion

This is REALLY COOL.

What mission is the audio from?

One glitch-
It seems as if I am always off a few degrees inclination from what I input into the guidance.

SpaceX-CRS1 last October.

And +1 for the cool factor - I think this will become the default mini-satellite launcher for my virtual aerospace company. (million dollar virtual check sent ;))

If it is only about some decimals it's ok, it's difficult to establish a perfect inclination, but you can correct it manually during ascent using yaw if you wish.

Anyway if it is more than some decimals can you please post here the content of the file /Config/ELIS/launchreport.txt so we can check the delta between target and actual inclination

Correct

And a million real thanks for the appreciation :tiphat:

Hi,Fred18,I discovered a bug, the barge flashes on,and off constantly,I have seen this before with other addons,it has something to do with the COG.

Try putting meshes 1 cm (0.01 meter) above the ground,I think that's the fix.:)

This does not happen when using D3d9 client.

Thanks :tiphat:

No, its about 2 full degrees.
I'll post the contents later if I get a chance.

On an unrelated note, I think the published weights may be noticeably unrealistic. In particular, I have trouble believing that MT4, being larger than a man an having two telescope mirrors and a rocket engine has an empty mass of only 19kg.

ok thanks, so i will be able to check if anything is going wrong

it is meant to be built fully with carbon fiber and titanium

By the way this was also an experiment to understand how to develop a full multistage rocket in dll, and a high tech payload capable of having their own autoguidance and full set of features.

Next addons from me will exploit my learnings from ELIS and MT4 and will use them for bigger and more realistic and ambitious projects.

Anyway in the documentation it is clearly said that this is a "semi-realistic" addon

if you like this addon you will also like the next ones way bigger and way more realistic

Thank you very much for the remark and for the tip on how to solve it!

I will test your solution and will include it in next release!
