Since Orbiter was created for the world, all the measurements are in metrics. Well, I get tired of going to Google to get a general idea of what my orbit is, or what the coordinates are of my crash landing :). So my question is does Orbiter have some conversion .dll, where this .dll converts data from metric units to customsry units? If so, do you know where it is?

I'll take the short answer. Is there any plugin that can convert?

Unfortunately not. All the output is done by the orbiter core or parts embedded therein. There isn't the infrastructure to do the measurement conversions without essentially rewriting all of the MFDs as separate addons.

Some of the newer addons have the ability to use non-metric units, but that's a choice of their respective creators.

just do the math, it should be easy enough to determine your orbit.

Or just don't worry about it. Be exposed to it enough, and kilometers and meters per second become near second nature.

Coordinates of the crash landing? Why do you need to convert to American units for that? Lat/Lon are worldwide...

This will give you some data in imperial units: [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=369"]FlightInstMFD for Imperial air travel units[/ame]. I would really encourage you to learn metric though, it will put you in good stead for the future.

What do you use for measuring latitude and longitude if not degrees?

I'm used to Imperial units in life, but since I've started playing Orbiter I think of vertical distance and (most) speed in only metric units. (I still think of horizontal distances in miles and car speeds in mph, but that's unchangeable at this point). I highly recommend getting used to metric units for Orbiter, as they're just more convenient.

yea, ever since i started using orbiter(or playing?) I have stated to dislike the NASA channel, like during the docking, they were giving the closing velocity in mph(the the explaining person explaining whats going on) i was annoyed, i have really started to like the metric system.

I remember when I had aviation maintenance class in high school while I was an exchange student in Arkansas, my teacher once said how more convenient metric is and how lucky we are in Europe that we are raised using it.

You only need to get used to it once, and you'll see how easy it is to use, since every single measurement is based around 10.

Still, a conversion interface DLL would be nice. If new addons could interface with a conversion addon module to make their conversions, instead of implementing conversions in each addon, it might make addons with a conversion option more common.
