wish someone told me how hard is controlling helis in DCS, it would save me some time. an money with it :sneaky:
guess I'll have to watch a lot of Youtube these days
I have combo of Saitek X52 (just use throttle quadrant) and classic MS sidewinder FF 2, and let me tell you...
forget about I can or I can't complete mission, I can't even take off without a crash 😖 a-complete-disaster

but I'm optimistic type. one day I'll manage to get off the ground without making an international incident
😟

Its always hard to control a helicopter without feedback from your Adaptive Stabilization System. I also have a helicopter module (Mi-8, not sure if the original DCS Ka-50 still works), but they took really a lot of practice to fly the very basic maneuvers right. Aircraft are more my territory, especially low flying.

ok, have to confess, I'm a bit confused now
reading you and all the other stuff provided by AI and Google, right now there are two options:
1. it's just the way the helicopters fly. try harder!
2. it's me. play hard wings or play the other games

Well, to help you a bit:

1. You must compensate in DCS, that you have no feeling of acceleration by your sense of balance. It is not much easier than flying a real helicopter.
2. If you are not willed to practice to the point that you can compensate that lack of sensory feedback, yeah, its easier to stick to wings.

Are other helicopter simulations better? I don't really know. I never encountered vortex ring state in MSFS, Hind, Gunship:2000 or Comanche.....

I remember I gave up with MSFS X and the Bell Jet Ranger a decade ago lol. It really isn't easy. HOTAS + Rudder Pedals seem necessary.

Still unbelievable... I once bought my first DCS version in the local consumer electronics store, and it contained only the Ka-50 and the Caucasus map.... long before DCS:World existed.

yeah, I too had that game... long before DCS appears. what was it name? Lock on... Ka-50 ?
funnily enough I did manage to fly that chopper quite well 😁
I better re-check all my axis ...and stuff

No, Lock-on: Modern Air Combat / LOMAC was the precursor of DCS. The Ka-50 was the first release of DCS, after LOMAC and the first Flaming Cliffs from 2005.

well I had that game, with Ka-50 chopper.
so it must have be a stand-alone game, eh ?

Yes, that was pre-DCS:World.

But you can buy the Black Shark 3 module for the modern DCS for little money, if you are not living in Russia....(There, the Russian helicopter modules are removed from the shop)

oh thank god, I'm not in Russia. and I don't mean only for DCS reasons...
there's another thing interesting about Ka-50, maybe you know something about it -
I have install the mod Mod HELICOPTER SERIES JSGME 2.8.1 BY CUESTA BROTHERS
(guess it's from here: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/29495...aircraftcarrier-cdg-2710-by-cuesta-industrie/)
which I believe should have some kind of Ka-50 in it, along with some other helis - here are the folders within
APACHE
COBRA
ECUREUIL
Ka-50 III
Ka-50 III_easy
TIGRE

but it doesn't work. at the start game reports some kind of error and loads fine, but without those modules.
maybe it's just too old and for some obsolete game versions. do you know about it ? you have some mods ?

Give me a moment to download it, then I can look if there are any references to another module. But I would think so.

And that there is a CDG mod for DCS is nice to know, I already wondered why the French carriers are missing....

actually, this page says - installation : User/Mod/Tech
and I see JSGME installed it directly into Mods/aircraft
may be that

edit:
oh dammit, that installation path is just for CDG
so it mustn't be that :(

Yes, its a not an aircraft mod of its own, but a modification of the Black Shark 2 module. That doesn't work with Black Shark 3. A terribly unclean way to install a mod in DCS, I would stay away from it.

uninstalling asap (y)
thanks

how bout that CDG ? :sneaky:

Seems to be a ship object of its own, but it with lots of Spanish labels. I am not sure I will install it, if I would, I would likely edit the .lua files a bit.....

Some days ago for the first time I tried to do a full Case III approach (i.e. almost entirely instrument-based) to the carrier in the F-14:

My F-14 module is broken and I couldn't find the solution 😩

I have combo Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 and Saitek X52 throttle quadrant and my stick for some reason pulls to right
I look, and I look, do I have anything else set on some wrong axis on FF2 or X52 but couldn't find any,
and the internet have some other guys complaining on same or similar problem

I would appreciate any advice, if you may have one. I'm out of ideas

just to state that ALL OTHER mods (F16, F18, AH64, all Flaming cliffs planes and all community airplanes works perfectly, just this, greatest of them all - doesn't :(

now I know that FF2 is pretty old piece of hardware, but like I said... it works perfectly in all other planes (and all other games, like IL2 and FS2024...)
