Gaming Digital Combat Simulator Thread

I'm kind of excited about it! Never really did something like that. I still need to follow some tutorials ^^

It'll be a training mission. Practice your aim, take-offs, autorotations, areal refueling, the use of JTAC, or whatever you feel to. :)
Your welcome to join us of course. There is enough hardware standing around.

Later that day I'll post when I open the server.
But the name will be the same:

1-2-3-4-5? That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard of in my life! That's the kinda thing an idiot would have on his luggage!

Can you also post the ID of the TS server then? Never played with TS yet, my old computer lacked some CPU cycles for TS even when idle.

Can you also assign network numbers and UHF frequencies to the A-10Cs in the briefing. Just to be verbose.

And have a 70 NM racetrack for the refueling training... better a bit longer than a bit too short.

And maybe have two F-15C slots ready for the blue team, just in case...

And please: Make the tanker "invulnerable" if possible... I just destroyed another tanker boom while trying to get into contact position. Somehow I have the feeling like the tanker is starting to maneuver very annoyingly to get me into contact, once I confirmed pre-contact position.

Fabri will support the TS server. It's not a must, but it makes things easyer from time to time.
I already adjusted the tanker orbit and added the F-15's.

Tanker invulnerable? I'm not a fan of that, but for the sake of training I'll do so.

Do the UHF frequencies have any advantage with other players, or is it just if you're flying with AI?
(I'll try to add this. If you have a certain idea how, please tell me).

Just a way to communicate with other players, who might not be in the teamspeak, or to limit communication to the flight.

Are you talking about voice or text chat? I never thought that's influenced by the frequency you set in the plane.

No, the standard Fxx commands, that you can transmit via DCS radio communication menu.

Ah ok... never paid much attention to them in MP. But from now on I will.
I added the following to the briefings:
Briefing Blue:
Flights:
6x A-10C "Hawg" on UHF 252 MHz - GID 1
2x Su25T "Uzi" on UHF 251 MHz
2x F-15C "Colt" on UHF 251 MHz
2x P-51D "Pontiac" on UHF 253 MHz
2x Ka-50 "Dodge" on VHF 124 MHz
2x UH-1H "Chevy" on UHF 254 MHz
2x Mi-8MTV2 "Ford" on VHF 127.5 MHz

Thank you. So, the unit ID should be assigned according to the position in the flight ("Hawk-1" = Unit ID 1).

Luckily, the A-10C is the only plane with some JTRS stuff... Link 16 is almost as complex in its networking as IPv4 with all workarounds.

Allright, I already opened the TS server, so if someone wants to test their TS setup feel free to do so.

Server is open!

Mission: Weapons Training
can also be used for flight training.

Available aircraft:
Su-25T
A-10C
Ka-50
UH-1H
Mi-8MTV2
P-51D
F-15C
Mig-29S

After seeing this DCS thread, I just downloaded DCS World!

I haven't bought any of the other aircraft, and unfortunately probably won't in the near future, but even just the SU-25T seems fun at the moment.

That was my plan too yesterday and I've failed to stick to the plan

But I do have something weird right now. I first installed DCS World through steam and then bought the A-10a module. I remove the steam version and downloaded the non-steam version but right after the installation, as soon as it starts the launcher, it says it's going to update but it stays forever on "initializing". No idea why it does that

The last flight with the A-10C got a bit annoying, the JDAMs refused to drop with the dreaded "ALN UNS" error... which seems to be caused by the degraded EGI performance.

@Urwumpe:
Never heard of that. But sounds like "alignment unusable", or the like...

What works in games like Battlefield doesn't necessarily work in reality (or in the simulator). ;)

My impressions:

The AWACS taking off at mission starts (I love these new smoke trails)

I've bought the A-10A last Saturday and in my opinion there are not enough tutorials covering the systems. I find this a bit strange since I just want to know how to use its systems. Anyway, I'm just converting the things that I've learned with the SU-25T to the A-10A and I will start doing missions soon. I've just completed all the tutorials from the SU-25T and I really like it.

I'm thinking of buying the Black Shark 2 module but I'm also interested in the Mi-8MTV2 module. Ah well, we'll see! First I'm going to log some time with the aircrafts I now have.

Looking forward to the next O-F multiplayer session! (because I missed the last one)

The downloadable training videos seem to be quite good and cover everything (Training in main menu, then A-10A, there should be a "Install" button).

We really need some A-10As in our next session. And playable ground units + playable JTACs, I'd really love to see how this feels like in multiplayer.

I've been watching the training vids for the A-10A and am going to fly a few missions tonight. I'd like to get in on the next session if I can make it but I know with the time difference it may be difficult. I usually work until 21:30 UTC and get home about 22:00.
