Well, as of yesterday SVN 64, on PRN 30, appeared in the GPS constellation listing, though still "inactive" for operational use. It has actually been quite exciting following the "birth" of a new GPS satellite. For RAIM purposes, it still needs to be deselected. Simultaneously, there was also the chance to see the metaphorical "death" of another satellite, SVN 36 (on PRN 6, in slot 6 on plane C), decommissioned the same day that SVN 64 was launched, and also yesterday finally deleted from the constellation status listing. The odd thing is, the old PRN 30 satellite (SVN 49, slot 6 in plane B) does not appear with a newly assigned PRN, and I do not recall ever seeing a NANU regarding its permanent or temporary outage recently.
In any case, I do want to take the opportunity to thank OF and Orbiter simulation creator, Dr. Martin, for the education in space and orbit matters over the last few years I have been experimenting with the sim, off and on. As a result, I am one of the few people in the company who understands the meaning of that information above, frequently have to explain the "knitty gritty" of it, and don't fail to mention OF when I am asked where I got to understand satellites, orbital periodicity, inclination and all such other stuff. The training here regarding this (and the incentive to learn a bit more) has been far superior to anything other "on the job" standard training for GPS "understanding" has had to offer. Keep it up!
