CEV Orion, 606 update

They work for me.

Here's the September 2009 version of the Orion control panel:

Looks good. Now that the Augustine commission is over, has there been any further work on this?

Franz-

I'm developing a Celestia simulation for an Orion/CEV mission to near-Earth object 1999 AO10 in 2025 and 2026. Unfortunately, there are no mesh files available for use in Celestia to render any Constellation vehicles. Would you be agreeable to produce an Orion/CEV mesh in .3ds format for Celestia use? I'm sure anything you can supply would be an immense improvement over the current situation.

Hi adamod, I would be glad to help you, but there seems to be no easy way to export .gmax to .3ds unless you have the 3ds Max software.

I have put both the native gmax model and the Orbiter mesh of an in-flight CEV on the download area of my website:
http://home.arcor.de/francisdrakex/download/cev607-09export.zip

The textures are in the regular CEV-Orion download,
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4437"]http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=4437[/ame]
but I can provide them as .bmp if required. Maybe someone can convert the model into .3ds format?

Thanks Doug! Can you specify the name errors? Gmax (actually the max2msh script) did not complain about any, but maybe the names are too long for the converter.

Looks like you're right:

Non 8.3 bitmap filename [cev-decals.bmp] has been renamed to [cev-deca.bmp]
Non 8.3 bitmap filename [cev-white.bmp] has been renamed to [cev-whit.bmp]
